Bambu Lab's sale stands out as a strong entry point for easy, reliable printing, especially the P1S at $399 and the A1 or A1 Mini for beginners. The ecosystem, app printing, and MakerWorld integration make setup and model access feel simple, and the printers are praised for skipping bed leveling and tuning while delivering consistent first layers. The P1S gets extra credit for enclosure support and dependable long runs, while the A1 series is favored for easier nozzle changes and flow calibration. Main caveats are AMS pricing and packaging, since the combo often includes the first generation unit, some accessories ship separately, and multicolor printing adds waste and time.

I am looking to upgrade my family's 3D printer for Christmas. We currently have a CREALITY ENDER 3 V2, purchased July 2022.I do not use the 3D printer, don't know how, and honestly haven't had any interest in learning about it either... this of course makes it quite difficult for me to determine what is a suitable upgrade. I've done a little research, and it appears the Bambu printers are very well reviewed and get high marks in a lot of the categories that users consider to be important.I am confused by the configuration options. Looking over the Bambu Black Friday offerings, I'm leaning toward the Bambu P1S, w/ AMS PRO2 Combo (Combo with Buffer, no hub) [bambulab.com] this comes out to $599.00. Does this look like a good upgrade to our Creality? Also, do I need a hub for the AMS? I don't think they'll ever be using more than one AMS.I'd also like to buy filament, so they are able to use it when they open it... and I'm confused by all the add-ons and extra parts in the drop down boxes. What is really essential to get started? Thanks for any help guiding me in this purchase.
That seems to be the one most people are buying. As far as filament goes you can buy from Bambu lab on search Slickdeals for some good deals on it.

I'm brand new - never even had a 3D printed part given to me - but I've always wanted one. I've been waiting for some time for the printers to get "good" enough for standard users who won't be printing all the time - but will use as needed around the house and for hobby/fun. I've been researching over the last month - watched many youtube video's and read lots of reviews. There are pros/cons to both and I think folks in the thread here have laid out some very thoughtful opinions.

I went ahead and pulled the trigger tonight on the P1S with AMS combo. I might have went a little overboard as I went ahead and ordered 2 4mm and 1 6mm nozzles and 7 rolls of PLA, 4 rolls of PETG, and 4 rolls of ABS-GF (some different color options). Based on reviews I figured I should go ahead and order these while on sale. (Got all of this for about 900+tax... which is way more than I planned to spend, but might as well go all in.) I got the ABS-GF due to it having better reviews (prints easier than ABS) and I although I won't be using it for some time (until I get good a 3D printing) I know I will want the stronger material to print some tools/parts for wood working and tool storage/accessories.

I just wanted to share that I really appreciate all the folks sharing their experience and tips in this thread - it really helps to have the opinions and perspectives from different types of users. I even had to go back and re-look at the A1 series after all the good words on it in this thread... but I had already decided that the P1S was the "easy, user friendly" printer I wanted.
Here's to me hoping that I didn't make a big mistake - and that I will enjoy this for years to come.

THANKS EVERYONE!!!

Looking to get the A1 mini for my daughters 10th birthday as her first 3D printer. Seems like a good choice, any reason why I should look for something different.
Get the bigger build plate.

If its the P1S AMS 2 Pro combo, you get 3 packages: The P1S printer box, the AMS 2 Pro box, and another box with the install kit (with the hub or buffer and power supply) and whatever other add-ons you bought. I just got mine 3 days in a row Friday and over the weekend. The odd part is that the tracking numbers aren't obvious on the order page, but if you click on the first tracking number, you can see all of them (if they actually shipped already)

I finally got the AMS 4 pin cord to power the ams. It came USPS in a white bubble envelope.

I am the same exact buyer type as you. I have to say that after receiving mine intact been printing things non-stop and I really love it. It opens a whole new door of possibilities. I'm printing all kinds of handy stuff. So much fun. I can even start making inventions with this thing.

The tracking on Bambu Lab's website sucks, it gives so little info.
However, I put that tracking number into the Chinese shipper's site and it gave way more details!

How often do you look at your mini and say "I wish I could print something 256 on a side"?
Only you know what you want, but bigger is generally better.

Q - Inclined to buy the P1S but plan to operate it in my garage due to wifey being concerned about the fumes. What is the operating temperature for it? Couldn't find it on the website. Will it work fine if the garage temperature is 40F. I am in PNW so that is how low it would get worst case in an insulated garage.

I initially ordered the P1S with AMS Combo but cancelled that one and ordered the one with AMS 2 Pro for the extra 50 bucks. Good decision?

No one answered you, but this is a super important question. Disclaimer: I'm not a scientist and I haven't done any measurements, comparisons, or anything of the sort. I'm just a guy who's been printing for a couple of years. Don't blame me if you grow a 3rd arm.You will have VOCs (volatile organic compounds, or "bad fumes") with every printer just from the nature of heated, broken down materials to print with. In general PLA and PETG are safe enough for you to be in the same room as the printer. The fumes I smell are little to none from my P1S, although mine is enclosed and I have HEPA filters on the vent fan in the back. I also have the Bento Box mod if I'm printing other materials besides PLA, PETG, or TPU.The "S" in ABS and ASA is styrene. If you have ever thrown a styrofoam cup into a camp fire, you know how terrible those fumes are. You should definitely not print ABS or ASA in an occupied room without some serious air treatment. People who print stuff like this have a whole another vented enclosure around the printer to contain the VOCs. It's going to be much safer to do this in a shed or a vented garage. Same with resin. You should do this in a shed or vented garage, as well as using nitrile gloves and masks to handle it after the print.Should you protect yourself even with PLA and PETG? Sure, but microplastics have permeated every aspects of our lives, and you have to do the calculus to determine what is an acceptable risk to you. I've accepted to have my PLA and PETG prints going in the same room as me. The carbon filled nylon prints I've done used the Bento Box mod and I didn't smell any fumes. I will not print ABS or ASA unless my printer is in a garage or shed.
To be honest, the fumes from nylon are near nonexistent. I've heard people say it has a slightly sweet smell, but I've never noticed it, and it's not toxic and irritating like ABS. Also ASA is nowhere near as noxious and toxic as ABS. I still ventilate ASA, but ABS is some nasty stuff.
