Everything I've ever read with portable ac units is to look for the dual hose models.

Would this be good for a 2 car garage? I have a gym in my garage and it does get very warm at times. My garage door is insulated. If anyone has experience with units like this would you recommend for my needs? Thank you

Some portable ACs are designed so that the condensate is re-evaporated or reused internally to assist with cooling. I had a GE model that I never had to drain, but it really depends on the specific unit and the environment (how humid and hot the area is).

I have a one hose unit that drains into a pan. Got it 7 years ago still going strong in our bedroom. Never any leaking problems even when I moved it in a car. I am sure it isn't efficient but really the main thing is to dehumidify and that gets the job done. I set it at 77f and it is usually just running on fan most of the time so one hose isn't really an issue. It dehumidifies and then doesn't really work hard.
here is a blurb on mine fyi

this is a steal I paid 250$ 7 year ago. Just clean it when it accumulates dust is all otherwise water and mold will grow.

I made a little stand out of 2x4's that raises mine up high enough to fit a rectangular rubbermaid food container underneath it for draining.
