Everything I've ever read with portable ac units is to look for the dual hose models.

Would this be good for a 2 car garage? I have a gym in my garage and it does get very warm at times. My garage door is insulated. If anyone has experience with units like this would you recommend for my needs? Thank you

And in addition, mount the unit on a stand or shelf, so you can allow it to drain condensate water naturally, rather than having to empty stupidly small cup inside unit.

Some portable ACs are designed so that the condensate is re-evaporated or reused internally to assist with cooling. I had a GE model that I never had to drain, but it really depends on the specific unit and the environment (how humid and hot the area is).

I have a one hose unit that drains into a pan. Got it 7 years ago still going strong in our bedroom. Never any leaking problems even when I moved it in a car. I am sure it isn't efficient but really the main thing is to dehumidify and that gets the job done. I set it at 77f and it is usually just running on fan most of the time so one hose isn't really an issue. It dehumidifies and then doesn't really work hard.
here is a blurb on mine fyi
"PAC CN120E" refers to a De'Longhi Pinguino portable air conditioner that provides cooling, dehumidifying, and fan functions for rooms up to 450 square feet. It features a 12,000 BTU ASHRAE / 6,000 BTU DOE cooling capacity, a no-tools setup for windows, and uses a condensate recirculation system to avoid the need to empty a tank. Key features include a remote control, a programmable timer, and easy portability due to integrated handles and casters.

this is a steal I paid 250$ 7 year ago. Just clean it when it accumulates dust is all otherwise water and mold will grow.

I made a little stand out of 2x4's that raises mine up high enough to fit a rectangular rubbermaid food container underneath it for draining.

No, I would not recommend this for a garage. It needs to be vented outside with a 4in hose for the hot air discharge and also has a water condensate drain that needs to vent outside or to a drain. Find a mini split for $300 around black Friday. They make 120v versions that can plug into a garage outlet. You'll have to cut a 4-6in hole for the lineset, & Borrow a vaccuum pump from friends. Most are 18-21seer so they are very efficient and have built in heat pumps for the winter.

I have this one for an add-on, its kind of annoying to control but it cools well. The problem is this is a single hose(exhaust) so it pulls air from the rest of the house, in your garage it would just be pulling in outside air thru the cracks. It would still probably cool but not be very efficient.
