This compact 1 gallon Ryobi wet dry vac stands out for car cleaning, small projects, and quick household cleanup, with strong suction for its size and easy portability. It handles dust, drywall debris, small water pickups, fireplace ash, lint traps, and even spider duty, and the onboard storage for the crevice tool is handy. The main drawbacks are the short hose, fast battery drain, and filters that can be pricey or need the right HEPA version for ash. A practical little vac if compact size matters more than full shop vac reach.

I've owned one for about a year and it's my go-to vacuum but I agree with comments that the hose is short and it eats batteries. It's great for cars esp if you're doing more than one which my dyson won't last through. I wouldn't bother with anything less than the large battery - it drains batteries quicker than any other tool I own. Yes, you hold the vac in one hand and the hose in the other bc it's short. The other problem I've found is that the hose is narrow - it's too small for most small pine cones or leaves. I wish it came with a few other attachments like a brush and the hose is too small to use my other vacuum tools. I continually get the base reversed when I reconnect it - I'm thinking of writing "FRONT" on it. Looks like this was $39 not long ago.

I've had one of these for close to a year. Think I paid $39 on BF weekend. I use it regularly to clean up after minor drywall repairs (I own a painting biz and do apartments). The included filter is fine for drywall dust and debris but keep it clean and do a test power up before going inside to assure dust won't come out of the exhaust.
Complaints... hose is a smidge short, included crevice tool falls off hose easily. Minor issues but might bother some more.
Have used it with other attachments from Craftsman and Milwaukee.
If mine burned up today, I'd buy another at this price. Wouldn't pay more tho.
Can you give a link to compatible tools? I really want a brush head.

picked one up to replace an older Ryobi cordless shop vac that was 10+ years old, not bad not bad, the suction is much better and I like the more compact size of the 1 gal model

thx OP!
I have one of the old blue Ryobi vacs and was wondering if the new generation was any better. The blue one works but the suction on it has always seemed a little weak to me.

This is a vacuum. The little green is in a different category. Its a carpet shampoo/cleaner. Its like asking how does a hammer compare to a screwdriver. Different tools for different purposes.
a spot carpet cleaner isn't some magical piece of equipment

you can do the same thing as a bissell or hoover by applying the liquid treatment yourself and then extracting the moisture from the carpet using the shop vac

a legit commercial carpet cleaning piece of equipment is a completely different story

I love mine. It is mostly used as a spider slayer.

Because it's not good for anything else. I have one only because i needed something small and have no access to an outlet. Bought it because can use other brand batteries with an adapter and don't want to invest in Ryobi.

I normally wrap a pantyhose over the filter for better filtration system. I mean it's not HEPA but it helps.

I picked this up the other day. It's a lot stronger than i thougt it'd be for something battery powered. Probably stronger than some of my old coreded shop vacs. The hose is pretty short though, I'm going to be looking for an extension stick

I want to know as well. This is the main reason why I would buy it.

Does anyone know what the provided screws are for? I don't see anything about them in the instructions
