Same here. I tried to access the thread about that deal and it was deleted. Suspicious, might have been intentionally created by AMC to get people to sign up.

Yep. I'm canceling due to them not honoring the mistake.

Covid unknowingly shook me off movie theaters. Not because of germs. It just doesn't have the allure it once had. I let my membership lapse and haven't missed it.

Hulu is next. We don't need all these things...

This happened to me because they got rid of morning showtimes.

So many of them are just so mediocre, why would we bother? The three theaters closest to me are configured so most of the screens have fewer than 30 seats. I'm gonna pay >$15 for a seat only marginally better than my tv at home?I still hit the theater sometimes and like having stubs for the discount Tuesday deals. But I make the 20m drive out to the nicer and larger AMC and go way less often.

Different people value different things I guess. I am drawn in by a 30 seat theater, not repelled. Why would I want to sit in the older style that sat 200 people, elbow to elbow, no assigned seating, people getting up throughout the theater and chitchatting during the movie? Fewer people with more spaced out seating is a positive IMO.

I do agree that it's easier to have a really, really nice home theater experience today than years ago though. 50"+ screens and great audio is not terribly expensive. But some blockbusters are still better as a shared experience in a theater.

If it was 30 seats and a large screen that would be great (if economically unsustainable) but instead it's a screen barely larger than the big screen TVs available for $400 ay BJs.I don't begrudge anyone their differing priorities but my firmly held opinion is that if I'm gonna mix with the unwashed masses and be out $30+ per person with snacks I need an experience better than my home.
