At 78, with a hip replacement already, & the other slated for January, lift chairs can be a real boon. You'll know in due time if you live.

So many of you have never had to help an elderly person out of a chair, and it shows!
This feature isn't for you youngin's. It's for memaw.

My FIL has something like this and it was the greatest chair I've ever sat in. Ordered mine and hoping for the best.

The lift feature is super weird but it can help you either get to bed or get up in the morning haha. Took me a weekend to adjust but now I understand.

Former EMS worker here. I never knew these existed! I've been to calls where we've had unresponsive and obese patients in recliners. Took a lot of manpower to get people out.

And have even had to do a few lift assists where geriatric folks just don't have the strength to get themselves up (and either through stubbornness or weakness don't call for help until many hours later.)

Is it safe to get one of these from Wayfair though? If it fails and you got an older person who can't get up do they have their phone nearby within reach or Life Alert?

Sad. I worry for people today when society seem even more individualistic/fragmented. With that norm drilled into the minds of people it's easy to see how they may be in denial even in that moment and that lack of perspective may be fatal.

Is the interweb spying on my? I just had major back surgery 2 weeks ago - would a chair like this be helpful in the near term, then be fine as a recliner in the long term?
