At 78, with a hip replacement already, & the other slated for January, lift chairs can be a real boon. You'll know in due time if you live.

So many of you have never had to help an elderly person out of a chair, and it shows!
This feature isn't for you youngin's. It's for memaw.

My FIL has something like this and it was the greatest chair I've ever sat in. Ordered mine and hoping for the best.

The lift feature is super weird but it can help you either get to bed or get up in the morning haha. Took me a weekend to adjust but now I understand.
Since it's way fair, it's most likely junk

I don't understand the down votes to a comment concerning the use of the chair when there is a need. Sure, when someone is making a joke, but it's the perfect use case for the elderly or people with disabilities.

This thing will start flaking and peeling until disintegration after x years and as furniture, have fun to anyone cleaning and lugging this out the home. Never ever buying PU leather unless its lightweight for disposal<br />

Where is the microfiber option??
Yeah, we bought a similar recliner from wayfair a few years back (swiveled, rocked, and had heat/massage but didn't have the lift feature). Started peeling within a few years. But that was after I had to re-weld the base and the frame a couple of times. Glad that thing went to a dumpster.

this thread is weird. Have people really never seen lift chairs?
I wish the down votes would state their reasons. I've no idea if the chair is great or junk. There are not a lot of reviews, but they seem positive. I would like to know if there is a manual system to get the chair down if there is a malfunction or even a power failure in mid extension. Also, parts availability if needed.

I'm 77 and I have an old-school recliner with the lever that is just tough to use now. It IS hard to get up, but I manage. Honestly, living alone the hard part would be I believe Wayfair just drops the chair off. That's it. I think some assembly is required - not easy for a bulky, somewhat heavy item. Also, my old recliner is in the basement TV room so I would have to somehow get it upstairs and out to the curb hoping the trash company will take it away. Then, there is the matter of getting the Wayfair recliner down to the basement. I'm tired out just thinking of this whole process. ;-)

On Amazon, it's sold by a company named Bonzy. I bought a lift chair from Bonzy in 2018 for my elderly mother, and it's still going strong. It cost the same kind of money back then, doesn't have heating or massage, is more narrow, and probably not as soft as this one. If the quality hasn't gone down during these years, I'd say it's quite durable. To my mom it was a game changer, because she was struggling getting out of her chair every time, and the lift makes it a breeze.

Someone also asked about the recliner. It's OK, but short and doesn't recline flat, so it's not nearly as good as modern, dedicated recliners. However, this chair looks posh in the picture, so who knows. Still, you'd be buying it for the lift feature, not recliner. I'm actually tempted to "upgrade" for her.
One more thing about the microfiber or faux leather or whatever. We bought a cover for it right away. Seven years later - no damage to the original fabric.

Probably worth getting it from somewhere with white glove service or looking up something like Taskrabbit to hire someone to take care of that stuff for you. When I was a young teenager I loved doing this stuff for neighbors for a few bucks. I got paid way more than any crappy retail job, and I was cheaper than any modestly skilled labor.

I need one that reclines all the way back to sleep in, also I'd prefer one with a lever to let the foot rest out because if the power goes out or the chair quits working you're doomed.
You can plug these into a battery backup for if the power goes out. I've tested that with a power recliner (not a lift recliner, though) and battery backup will let you operate it. The backup was nothing fancy, just one I'd bought for probably $50 or less on a sale.

This 'sale' seems dodgy, especially comparing the original price by simply searching 'extra Large Power Lift Recliner Chair', there are microfiber 'oversize' chairs for $450ish but with an original price of around $500-600. I also have to note, i found it funny that some of these are offered with cupholders, so you can lift yourself out of your chair while spilling your drinks everywhere.

Is it safe to get one of these from Wayfair though? If it fails and you got an older person who can't get up do they have their phone nearby within reach or Life Alert?
I bought a recliner from Wayfair, Within a few months it was lopsided, mechanisms rough. I had a look inside and metal was bent, wood was broken. I wouldn't, but that's just my experience.

Sad. I worry for people today when society seem even more individualistic/fragmented. With that norm drilled into the minds of people it's easy to see how they may be in denial even in that moment and that lack of perspective may be fatal.

Do you really worry though??? Or are you just being judgemental and have a need to express your condescending views. Wouldnt your efforts be better served in a medical board or a self-help forum?

I bought this from Wayfair a year or so ago to help my wife recovery from a surgery - fast forward to two weeks ago, I was also using it for my recovery.
Important things to note:
1) The price is not a sale price, I confirmed I paid less last July - $354 with a 10% savings on top (first time Wayfair purchase). The listed MSRP is insane.
2) It's extremely easy to put together, but if you're buying it for someone with mobility issues, they will likely need someone else to put it together for them.
3) It's uglier than it looks (the grey, I imagine the brown is WORSE).
4) It's extremely comfortable - after a year, I'm really glad we kept it.

From a functional perspective, I can't say enough good things about it. If you're looking for something stylish - absolutely look elsewhere.

I chatted with customer support online and was told the giftcard purchased on a 3rd party website cannot be processed.
