This OmniBook 5 stands out as a well equipped 16 inch HP laptop for everyday use, with a backlit keyboard, two USB C ports with power delivery, and a 59 Whr battery. The Ryzen AI 5 340 configuration gets compared against pricier options, and the higher spec Ryzen AI 7 350 model with 1 TB storage and touchscreen is seen as worth the extra cost for some. The main tradeoffs are a small battery, no touch on this version, and a heavier 5.5 pound build. Deal timing and returns also matter here, since it is sold while supplies last and Staples may not offer a standard 30 day return window.

  • The laptop includes a backlit keyboard and two USB-C ports with power delivery, avoiding a barrel charger setup.

  • The configuration can use a full-size M.2 2280 SSD format rather than ultra-compact M.2 sizes.

  • A Costco model with higher specs is described as worth the $70 price bump over the OP configuration.

  • The battery capacity is reportedly listed as a 59 WHr battery on HP's support/specs page.

  • The laptop may feel heavier than expected at about 5.5 lb, and battery capacity confirmation is still questioned.

  • The battery is described as small, and the laptop is also described as heavy.

  • The deal timing is limited to Sunday through Saturday while supplies last, with no rainchecks offered.

  • Return options may be limited because Staples is described as not offering a traditional 30-day return window.

I think the battery should be plenty for a Zen 5 6-core and integrated GPU. This might be my stop off this laptop train Smilie

Well, it has a backlit keyboard, 2 USB-C ports, and power delivery, no more barrel charger. So pretty good for HP. Any guesses how long Staple deals usually last? Hate to see Costco offer a similarly priced Ryzen 7, 1TB HP 16" again like they did a couple months ago when just started shopping around.

* My mistake, checked my notes. It was actually this one for $599(now $799, Costco), $549 (now, was $609) at Staples. ...Looking it over again, it looks like it's worth the $70 price bump over the OP.

Appreciate you! A little heavier at 5.5 lb but that's not too bad. If I can find out the battery capacity on this I may switch over.

Yeah, same here. One online review [laptopmag.com] said about 11H. I think that's shipping wgt, 3.97lb actual?

Thanks for that correction on the weight, and it looks like the same 59 WHr battery according to https://support.hp.com/us-en/prod...ku=B6NF4UA

I finally bit. The Ryzen 7 was worth the $80 bump after tax. One thing to note if anyone else is going for this:

* Technology and business machines, such as computers, laptops, digital cameras, printers and tablets, may be returned within 14 days of the date of receipt.

Same here. It was the one I was looking at initially, too. Didn't find anything better for my needs since.

It means it can use the full size m.2 ssds as opposed to the ultra compact ones
