It's a better buy than the Bauer if you get the canister in good shape. I haven't heard much about the new bauer model but with the central machinery the impeller they used was cheap and didn't maximize airflow. Jet makes some high quality dust collectors with solid parts, this one is a little underpowered but it's going to be way more efficient than the bauer. The canister filter on this and the bauer is worth more than the dust collector itself. Central machinery dust collector for $199 is the real value buy if you're willing to vent outside and don't care about the canister. It's more powerful than both and you can buy a "Wen" aftermarket impeller that bolts right on for like $50-$100 and makes it a real beast. Overall though I've seen so many lightly used dust collectors on marketplace and craigslist for under $150 that it's hard for me to recommend spending $300+ on one. My shop is set up with multiple dust collectors at the corners of it because it was way cheaper, probably more efficient and easier for me to just buy a few $100 used dust collectors off of craigslist than to run all the pvc piping. A lot of people think they want a dust collector and then rarely bother to actually use said dust collector.

In for one.
I tried pricing out a Wen / HF recently and once you add a canister they're more than this. Also sure it's a little wimpy for a dust collector but it's about the limit that will fit on a 15a 110vac ckt, and running bigger circuits is a whole different price point of shop.
I'm also assuming it shows up damaged (unusally long ship time too) but hopefully it's not so bad it has to go straight back.

Mine is dented on the main housing on both ends. I could probably hammer it out to be functional...but not for the price i bought it at. None left at Amazon...hmmm

Did yours come damaged? I can't get Jet to send me the replacement housing.
