Why:
1) This is a mixed size set. Compression packing cubes are most effective at the smallest sizes, where for example you can squeeze things like wool socks into a tight package. In the medium and large sizes, compression cubes squeeze the corners/edges but leave you with a football shape, which doesn't save you that much space in the end.
2) Cubes organize better when you have more of the same size cubes and not a mixed bag of sizes.
3) The medium size is the most valuable and versatile size. I've traveled the world with only that one size.
4) Cubes are best for organizing. Compression is of marginal benefit unless you're backpacking in the mountains for a week or something, and in that case you want higher-end thinner compression cubes than Amazon brand.

Where compression is very useful is for one-bag traveling (I use Osprey Farpoint 40). Weight is still a concern but less so because usually weight will be hauled in transit to hotel then can be partially offloaded. However, in these cases I'm usually limited to a carry-on bag ~40L and want to pack that to max density.
I do agree about the point of wanting same size (or having some bags exactly half of other size) to tile better
devil's advocate but for point 4, I have found the exact opposite to be true. I regularly backpack in mountains, usually just 1 or 2 nights but in general weight is the main thing to optimize for, which in turn means packing the bare minimum (certainly not trying to cram extra with compression cubes). Usually clothes are just shoved into main compartment. I do use an Osprey ultralight bag for organizing loose items like headlamp, toiletries etc, and another one to separate out clean undergarments but no compression needed there.<br />
