Damn, wish it came with a battery. I need more 20v's. These deals without batteries are worthless. It's like posting a deal on pneumatic attachments when the compressor is the source of power
I think these tool prices are slick. Home Depot puts the batteries on sale occasionally.

Alternatively, for someone heavily invested in the ecosystem I dont need or want more batteries, I would much rather have a cheaper tool-only deal.

Opposite. Once you're in the ecosystem most of us have a ton of batteries. Also a drawer full of chargers

Not sure how long you've used this site, but broadly speaking the general consensus seem to be—at least based on what I've seen, I'm sure I'll be corrected if this is inaccurate—batteries are usually least expensive when they're bought separately; it just depends on whether a deal is hackable (e.g., if you're able to buy a tool/battery combo & return one of them to get a better-than-the-average-sale price on whichever one you're keeping), and hackability is usually dictated by the seller/store you're buying it from.

There are occasionally pretty good deals on battery multi packs as well, I got a 2-pack of 4Ah from Fastenersinc awhile back for a good price.
