The u7n and u7k are really good mid performance tvs. I have one.
Performance and reliability are two different things.

For those who have a Hisense TV, is it true that when it boots up there are advertisement? I hear about it on Reddit but I'm not sure if it's really verified

My LG has that too. If someone can name a brand that doesn't have ads somewhere on home screen now I'd like to hear it.

I have a samsung UN75MU9000 (75"). Is this a significant upgrade in picture quality? I have a much more expensive LG c3 83" in a separate dedicated movie room, but oled is too expensive for my living area.

Yes, this is much closer to your OLED than it is to your Samsung in picture quality.

This TV is almost 3 years old and that's a long time in the Mini led segment. The Panasonic W95A 85" was this price months ago and it out performs this TV. That alone makes this feel overpriced.

I owned the 75" of this TV, and while I for sure had a dud with shoddy Wifi that literally required a factory reset multiple times, it had TERRIBLE blooming as well. The competitor that year, the TCL Q750G was WAYYY better, and i owned the 75" and 85" of that model. If you're going Google TV, and Sony is out of budget, for SURE go TCL or bust. Even today in 2025 models, they just juice brightness and nits, at the expense of blowing out picture quality/details, while still having worse control of the backlight compared to TCL-- I also owned the 2024 TCL QM751G, and currently own the TCL QM8K. TCL is by and far superior than Hisense.

That is true. This TV has better performance than most similarly priced TV's and reliability in line with anything else at a similar price point.

+1 for the TCL QM8K. I returned a LG G4 OLED in favor of a larger QM8K because, to my eyes, the HDR pop of the TCL outweighed the perfect blacks of the flagship LG OLED, with virtually no blooming. Can't go wrong with TCL QM7K or QM8K.

Should I wait for Black Friday/Cyber Monday to pull the trigger? I need two screens. Also, anyone have any leads on a dumb monitor?

Well, time will tell for mine. However, I bought mine from Costco, so I am not too worried if something did happen.

Based on what data?

Almost every review I have seen disagrees with you...looking at the U8 versus QM8 series

If one could get the Samsung QN90 from the Sam's club deal ...I would imagine they would buy that over this one
