This would be the better deal in general if gaming is the intended purpose, plus the build quality is almost always nicer on the Lenovo.

If you have never owned an MSI thin before, expect them to get toasty warm, especially when gaming. My friend has one, and even with a laptop cooler, it runs HOT.

Yes, that's why I posted it. Personally I'd hold out for a 4060 laptop for $600 or less, even though that won't be easy!

BF around the corner I expect to see at least 1 laptop around $599 with a 4060, we already had them at $650 and $699 so its going to happen. I am also waiting on a 4060 or 5060 for under $700 for myself as well. Unless I last minute audible and decide to just build a new gaming rig, but the 5080 is not that impressive to me compared to my 3080 for the cost difference, so thinking wait one more generation.

Yeah, it's a recent phenomenon so some people aren't aware of.

It generally applies to larger modules more than small 8GB modules. You can still pick up cheap 8GB SODIMMs for $20 on Amazon, but 16GB DIMMs and SODIMMs have bounced hard, landing in the $75-$90 range, with 32GB B-tier brands starting over $150. It only gets worse the higher the DIMMs go, as those larger capacity RAM chips are being hoovered up for the AI server boom.

For this particular laptop, you should immeadiately upgrade it to 16GB, if possible. That should give you a usable gaming experience if that's your intention. If you find you need 32GB, wait for this memory bubble to deflate. There is a very good chance we will see DRAM fall to half today's price at some point next year, as this appears to be a demand bubble.

You are 100% wrong. RAM prices are through the roof.
