For anyone shopping for a similar 3/8 set, the harbor freight Quinn set is almost identical and reg price is 99 and often goes on deal $60 I recall, I bought one a few weeks back for that and it's a really nice set

The Quinn same quality? Worth the extra $30 for the Milwaukee? Genuinely interested I know nothing about tools and bought first impacts little bit ago.

Very likely the same factory pushing both sets out. Only difference is paint and the box.

Milwaukee set would be much more worth it if it was in a packout container.

And the material they're made of, but other than that, paint and box is probably all :-)

I've got this 3/8" Milwaukee set (~$99) and the full 1/2" Quinn set (~$109). I wouldn't say they're identical, but they're similar. Milwaukees probably win in terms of fit/finish but they'll probably both last me a lifetime.

I own both the Quinn and the Milwaukee set of 3/8 impact sockets mentioned here. I use them with the original Milwaukee 3/8th 250ft/lbs Milwaukee fuel impact wrench, and more recently with the new 550ft/lbs version of the stubby impact wrench.

I am not a professional mechanic, just an "advanced" DIY'er that owns 2 E90 BMWs so I do spend my weekends wrenching more often than not lol! Big Grin

I am usually a big fan of the HF tools and the Quinn system is nice because it comes with longer extensions and adapters the milwaukee set doesn't, it does appear to be hardened differently though. I have already noticed there is significantly more "mushrooming" of the anvil side on the Quinn sockets vs the Milwaukee ones. No big deal but could speak to some longer term issues keeping the sockets on the anvil.

2nd most noticeable thing is the Qinn is "laser etched" just on the surface so they do wear away if the sockets rub against parts while in use. My 12mm socket is starting to get a bit difficult to read on my Quinn. The Milwaukee ones are recessed into the socket, but then filled in with paint which is way easier to read in my opinion.

Conversely though, Warranty on a if ever needed, is going to be much more difficult vs just driving down to my closest HF and swapping the Quinn one. It does suck that Milwaukee didn't do the packout compatible case, but in my case that doesn't matter since I use the Rigid system instead.

While each have their pros/cons, I do find myself reaching for the Milwaukee set much more often.

Do you know how many products from different brands are made in the same factory? That doesn't mean they're being made with the same materials.
