I'm 285# what's the chances the 20# over won't be an issue? Somehow I gained 30 pounds since summer and I need to get it off

While a walking pad like this is helpful, the fastest and easiest way is just a calorie deficit. I was not losing nearly anything with my walking pad (couple miles a day 3-4 times a week). Switched to a 750cal deficit (1750 a day) and lost 40 pounds in 6 months.

Easy. Eat less and diet correctly. Then walk more. Don't make excuses. Just do it.

To the other replies to this question- My man is asking about the max weight for the treadmill, folks, not how to lose weight.
I don't have a real answer to your question Phil17, but I've purchased a cheap elliptical from Walmart before and it was quite strong, though cheap. With a treadmill I'd imagine it has to actually push your against your weight so it may be more important. Walmart has a good return policy (they return online orders in the store I think), though, so why not give it a shot.

I have a different walking pad but I was 20-30 lbs over the weight limit when I started using it and it still works great! Also healthy changes lead to other bigger healthy changes, proud of you for starting somewhere!

Do your research on treadmills. Your supposed to get one that has a weight capacity of at least 100 lbs over your actual body weight to compensated the pressure from your walking/running force. After reading all the 1 star reviews, you're definitely getting what your paying for.

Sure thing.
For the most part, I did not make any major diet changes other than amount of food I ate. I still ate things like rice, pasta, bread, pizza etc, because hating the food you eat is a great way to quit the diet. Rice and pasta, for example, I cut back by half because I was simply eating far too much which was a huge calorie sink.
I just logged every meal I made in chronometer, using my own kitchen scale to weigh ingredients. You can make some easy changes to reduce calories (cauliflower rice, whole wheat tortillas for the fiber, etc but those are not required). I even still made homemade pizzas for around 550 calories each (12" homemade whole wheat thin crust, fat free moz, turkey pepperoni, a touch of bacon). It was a rough first week where my body went from excessive over eating to a 750 calorie deficit, but by the second week I noticed an immediate change where the smaller portions were filling.
And then you have the obvious option as well, eat more veggies to cover "volume" eating. A big ol salad with some chicken/beans fills you up and keeps you full (volume from lettuce/green, protein keeps you full from the chicken/beans).

I own gym sized one now, MSRP of 1500. I like it but it takes ton of space. I walk on it 3 times a week less than an hour at most at 4.0 speed. I will use this one till it stops working likely, but would like something that takes much less space and yet reliable next. Would something like this be a good option I do not mind paying more either but not 1K I paid for mine though.

I've been looking at similar ones on Amazon. Most at this price are rated for 265 but i did find a few rated higher like this one rated for 360lb. https://a.co/d/aNJ4eNB That said, the other specs do look similar.
