I will admit that it does start a bit slow but once the story takes off it never lifts its foot off the gas pedal.
You continuously get new weapons and abilities and the enemies grow stronger and adapt to those abilities. The locations you fight in also get more complex as you get further into the game. And that's completely ignoring the story which, while not to Alan Wake levels, tells a compelling and intriguing tale.
So yes, you can simply describe the main gameplay loop as "clear the room then move on to the next room" but that's severely underselling it.

I played it for 20 hours. Is that short for some games? Yes, but at 20 cents an hour, fantastic. And those are a hand crafted 20 hours, not generic weapons and fetch quests.
