Only mildly related, but if you do sign up, go into your Account page and turn off auto-renewal. They'll randomly do events to encourage people to turn on auto-renewal, and you can get free stuff. The last few times I did this, I got 2 pounds of candy, a freezer bag, and a nice big sturdy Costco tote.

Ordered through groupon after searching here for a deal. I read comments afterward and figuring I wouldn't get shop card, regretted purchase. I had an existing non member account with costco for years. Got email with $40 shop card a week later. So I guess Scam is ymmv

For those with a membership trying to use P2 as the primary to sign up: Why not have P2 sign up without any additional members. Get the gift card, then go add P1 later?

So I had some concerns about getting the deal since a few people said they didn't get the 40 dollar gift card. I ordered on 12th and got my 40 dollar gift card today 20th. Came from [email protected] if that helps anyone.

earlier this year I did the same promo but it also was supposed to come with a $100 off $200 or more purchase on Costco.com.
Never got the code to use online and Costco claims they sent it to my email but I never received so fair warning to everyone. I did get my shop card bonus though.

Same deal is available on stacksocial. I did it thru them (as a legitimately new Costco customer) about 2 years ago and had no issues getting the gift card incentive.

You need to make sure you are using a new email and new phone number. So that they wont be able to search your old account with any of the info that you provide.

I just did it last week and when I went to collect my card, the rep was not able to find my previous account and she created a new one with autorenewal option. Right after collecting the physical membership card, I got an email for the gift card. So it does work. Try your luck.

I've heard that they can track with the driving license and any other ID. So even if you change your phone and email, they can still match with the old account.
