it's almost as if there was a block put on my cards, nothing was working and I was about to toss them. I was convinced that someone at Amex was never going to let me use these card for ordinary stuff but instead force me to buy wine or frozen steaks or designer shoes or spend at some of the ridiculous places they push on amex offer. I called and they said "No problem, everything looks fine. Keep trying to use them."
it was super frustrating and I'm pretty sure I took detailed notes about where I ultimately was able to spend and said something like "never do this again unless you get 15% or more."
We'll see. Don't say you weren't warned.
It was a PITA just to buy them.
After the first purchase went so well I attempted to buy a second.
Then fraud alerts everywhere and it wouldn't go through.
Two days later I get a call from AMEX and have to go through a torturous process to verify my identity, it's successful. I'm told to complete the GC purchase.
I try again and get a message:

Resubmit My Order
So I just click resubmit order and have to enter all my details again and it finally goes through.
Now there are 3 X $300 charges on my AMEX and one $300 credit pending.
And now I have to figure out how to actually spend them, Amazon is there if nothing else.
But I got $40!
