For anyone who hasn't played this: This was my first FromSoft game and I was lured in by the stellar reviews. After several hours of playing, I almost gave up. It seemed like repetitive levels of blasting underlings followed by brutally difficult (and seemingly impossible) bosses. I finally realized you MUST experiment with and adjust your mech build/load out and playing style, you can't just run and gun your way through the game. Once I figured that out, it got a lot more interesting and rewarding. Btw, for me, whenever I got a wall, the answer was to go lightweight and fast.

It's true, and as someone who played armored core on the PSP in college and dicked around endlessly with mechs (and finished probably 20% of the game) it's actually a disservice to the series how little they let you know about all of the systems and metrics involved. I guess that's their style though
Cool game, definitely worth trying out at $20. It didn't really click with me, though. I keep meaning to go back to it and give it a better shot. I love From Soft games, and while their DNA is all over this, I guess I just have a strong preference for the "Souls" style.
