Much like the item in question. Even if I wanted to buy one, I can't buy one, because it's completely sold out.
I wouldn't say this is a "gift horse" by any means. But we can agree to disagree.
A lot of people buy ewaste all the time, but that doesn't make it justified.
In 2025 purchasing this item for home/personal use just doesn't make sense unless there is a complete lack of technical ability by the purchaser.
Blu-Ray players are plentiful and can do what this does and much more. They aren't much more expensive either. I guess maybe there is a place for this item though as a presentation-only device or for someone displaying instructional content. Still feels like you could save space and time by just getting a $20 streaming dongle for that purpose.

FWIW, I have lots and lots and lots of DVDs, few Blurays though, Streaming devices don't work unless you have a solid internet connection, ewaste is a consumer problem...not a product issue. Even a million dollar RV can be ewaste if you don't use it it. Speaking of RV's....they are a great use case for a cheap DVD player and most of the time you aren't in an area with a streaming quality internet connection. Ask me how I know
