For brand new merch at a giveaway price? Not to me they're not. You're most definitely looking a gift horse in the mouth. A family member of mine just ordered 2. If you can find a better price (or one even close), post it.

I wouldn't say this is a "gift horse" by any means. But we can agree to disagree.

A lot of people buy ewaste all the time, but that doesn't make it justified.
In 2025 purchasing this item for home/personal use just doesn't make sense unless there is a complete lack of technical ability by the purchaser.
Blu-Ray players are plentiful and can do what this does and much more. They aren't much more expensive either. I guess maybe there is a place for this item though as a presentation-only device or for someone displaying instructional content. Still feels like you could save space and time by just getting a $20 streaming dongle for that purpose.

E-waste? Sorry but you sound absolutely ridiculous. You pretend to know what people want or how they'll use it. Picking apart an $11 DVD player because it doesn't meet your high standards is pretty revealing. Suggesting that users spend more on a Blu-Ray player or streaming dongle is completely missing the point. Sometimes the dirt cheap solution is what they want. Many families have extensive DVD collections, with which this player would be perfect in a child's room or guest room. Or a second home. Or a hunting/fishing camp. Or any one of a hundred other uses.
E-waste is either broken or useless tech. This is neither.

There is a lot of whiteknighting going on but I can't figure out for what. Ewaste? Upset that a for profit company might be trying to collect a profit? Projecting use case to the entire planet because you feel digital video discs kicked your dog?
LOL...who is paying you to reverse shill a product you claim to have zero interest in?
FWIW, I have lots and lots and lots of DVDs, few Blurays though, Streaming devices don't work unless you have a solid internet connection, ewaste is a consumer problem...not a product issue. Even a million dollar RV can be ewaste if you don't use it it. Speaking of RV's....they are a great use case for a cheap DVD player and most of the time you aren't in an area with a streaming quality internet connection. Ask me how I know

Good stuff. I try to stay out of online arguments, but the sheer audacity gets me.
P.S. You misspelled gaslighting in the first sentence of that comment. Ha
Don't worry, if you ever feel too mature to get involved in an online argument...just tag me in, I'm rarely plagued by the same level of restraint.
There is always a that needs beating
Crazy as it may sound, I'm only here to save money and help others do the same. The merits of a particular item are completely separate from how good a deal it is compared to the rest of the market. If I were to regularly get into debates with the masses, what would that make me?

If so, that makes them complete sell-outs.
Much like the item in question. Even if I wanted to buy one, I can't buy one, because it's completely sold out.
