I wonder if its better to buy from amazon or bestbuy. Same price. Wonder how they both handle returns and if its a PITA to deal with amazon since they say they can charge a heavy/bulky item return pickup fee as well as the item has to be new and unused.

Anyone have any experience with Amazon buying a large TV and needed to return?

Technically true. I've had mixed. One from 2015 still rockin used many hours 7 days a week. Another from 2022 had to replace the whole screen lights and all, but under a warrantee.

Even Sony is definitely what it used to be.....
I used to be a huge Sony Fanboy that is until my top tier TV lasted all but 2 years.
Sony customer service stated that I should have not expected for the tv to last longer than that...

I have a KS8000 60 inches from the year 2016. Somehow it is still working, it has been showing signs of not starting once in a while in the past 6 months, it has been used quite a bit, at least 1.5 hours a day

I'm sorry you had a bad experience. Actually, I would like to try Samsung TV after 3 Sony TVs. I have an Excel folder that I log our stuff, best deals etc. So, in 12/16 Sony KDL48R510C (Refurb) purchased with a 3 year protection, died in 11/18. Next Sony XBR55X800E purchased in 11/18 protection ended but luckily still operating as a second TV in bedroom. Though now we're fully using it because the third Sony TV we got in 11/23 with a 4 year protection (KD-65X77CL) unfortunately just went pitch black 2 weeks ago. Still waiting for it to be fixed. Asurion honored the warranty, tech assigned says waiting for the part/parts. This Samsung deal is tempting, lowest ever.
