This Costco Legion is a strong CPU first gaming laptop with an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX, 32GB of RAM, and an IPS 16 inch 240Hz display that avoids OLED burn in concerns. The RTX 5060 is enough for most games and light gaming at native resolution, while the 1TB SSD has a second NVMe slot for expansion. The tradeoff is that the GPU is capped lower than stock Lenovo versions, and the 8GB card can struggle at 1440p or 1600p in newer games. Battery life, speakers, and Wi Fi reliability have also drawn complaints, making it a better fit for performance and productivity than portability.

The Microcenter Legion 5 has a worse 300 nits 165 Hz 15.3" vs. the Costco's 500 nits 240 Hz 16" screen, a 60Whr battery rather than the Costco's 80Whr, white backlit vs. 24 zone RGB keyboard, Wifi6 rather than Wifi7, lighter vs. more robust body/cooling, beyond the less RAM and smaller SSD as you are referring to. Certainly up to every individual to decide what they find to be worthwhile.
Walmart has the vector a16 hx a8whg-004us for 1299. It seems the msi has superior specs but bad build quality and very loud fan. The nits on the msi arent indicated but i think the better graphics card might be a clincher

Did you order online or pickup in store? I went to my local store yesterday and they had the laptop but not the pricetag at its location. When I asked for the price, they said it was (the normal) $1499.

Im conflicted. There are grest desls on the msi 16 for 1299 walmart and acer predator neo ai microcenter 1499 which bothbhavevthe 580 card, but build quality id important too and ive had keyboard keys fall off msi on day 1 and acers just fall apart. Might get the costco kegion though spec wise its at the bottom

It's at $1199 at stores in my area. If you go to the sameday costco website and search for Lenovo Legion and see something that's around $1212.99 (slightly higher on the site compared to in store), it's on sale at that particular Costco.

Price and purchasing decisions are more than specs. Otherwise, people would just buy no name brands that slap together parts at lower cost. Many people consider build quality, brand reputation/software, and support in addition to the specs. If that weren't the case, nobody would buy Thinkpads. It's every person's own call about how they balance those priorities.
I'm probably going to get this Legion today and might record a short youtube video about it.

Confirming this. I bought it, and the box says "Legion Pro 5i" (Model 16IAX10)! This makes sense given its characteristics that I wrote about in an earlier comment: https://slickdeals.net/f/18746830-costco-com-lenovo-legion-5i-16-gaming-laptop-intel-core-ultra-9-275hx-1199-99?p=180051211#post180051211

Does anyone know the max ddr5 stick this can support? I see that crucial offers a single stick 96gb so i would be interested in 192 gb ddr5 combined which would be great for editing huge camera and video files as well as running os emulators at full speed. I know product manuals give the offivial or recommended limits, but sometimes real life allows these to be exceeded

You're completely right, and I'm surprised there hasn't been more discussion about this. This Costco Lenovo "Legion 5i" looks like a custom blend of Legion 5i and Legion Pro 5i. These details about the Costco one are more consistent with the Legion Pro 5i: 16" IPS 240hz screen (which appears to only be on the ones with Intel Core i7-14650HX processors), full vents in the back (so power and HDMI connections on the left), as as you said, the Costco one has size and weight of 14.35" L x 10.55"W x 0.85-1.02"H; 5.4 lbs. The Legion 5i has listed size and weight of 0.78″-0.84″ x 13.58″ x 10.05″; ~1.9kg / ~4.1lbs. The Legion Pro 5i has listed size and weight of 0.85" - 1.01" x 14.34" x 10.55"; 2.52kg/5.56lbs. A notable difference is that the Costco RTX 5060 is at 105 watts rather than 115 watts.

There's no configuration at Lenovo for either Legion 5i or Legion Pro 5i that I can find where someone can get a 16" IPS 240hz screen with Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX. Has anyone seen the inside of one of these Costco ones to see whether the external materials and internals are closer to the Legion 5i or Legion Pro 5i?
I have.
Spec can be found here from Lenovo itself: https://psref.lenovo.com/Detail/L...83NX0000US
This is NOT a Legion PRO. It looks like a PRO but it lacks the engine - it only has TGP of 105W (10W less than the stock Lenovo 5i and Pro 5i at 115W each).

It's a trade off that Costco has made with Lenovo. Best CPU and best 16" screen (I like the IPS better than the OLED, less troubles and less burn-in chance) but the TGP is just not there but its still a good deal. Its less price than the Legion 5 with it's 15.1 OLED screen.
Hope this helps

The device's box literally is labelled by Lenovo as "Legion Pro 5i." The cooling is their "Pro 5i" configuration with no power or HDMI in the back, rather than 5i cooling with power & HDMI in the rear. Its weight is Pro 5i weight. Agree that it has some changes such as for the dGPU wattage, as I mentioned in my post. Lenovo has both Pro and non-Pro 5i model 16IAX10H Legions on their site: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/...ry=16IAX10 and https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/e...2016IAX10H

Correction to my post - the Costco does have the Pro internal coolings, was able to compare my laptop internal to an open PRO 5 and the fans/pipeworks is similar visually. Somehow, Lenovo/Costco decided the thermal throttle the 5060 in this model. Like I said, still a good buy unless you need that 10-15% performance improvement

Thoughts on this compared to the slightly cheaper https://slickdeals.net/f/18727435-lenovo-ideapad-pro-5i-16-2-8k-oled-120hz-core-ultra-9-32gb-ram-rtx-5050-1000-starts-11-27?sort=oldest&page=6#commentsHeader

Bought one, had lots of issues with the mediatek wifi 7 card and huge spikes (5000+ ms) unlike anything on my old wifi 5 card. Returned and got a new one, still not nearly as consistent. I think it may be that intel makes better wifi cards, but I'm not sure. Anyone else had this happen?
