Sounds like a fire hazard.
163W from a 12V output is asking a lot..163/12=13.58. Almost 14 amps is pretty gnarly. I think cigarette lighter fuses are 10 or 15 amps, so a blown fuse sounds likely

I have the 240w version. It doesn't get hot on my end. I use it to charge and iPad and iPhone on my drive to work, 1 hour drive. I love the retractable cables.
