Absolutely the worst refrigerator I have ever had. It makes loud noises like a haunted house through out day and night. Really! It spits out ice cubes any time it feels like and the cubes land in the floor to melt. Constantly stepping on water or ice cubes. The shelves fall out of the door when I open it dropping everything that was on the shelves. The drawers just slide plastic on plastic so have to use 2 hands to wiggle the drawers so they will come out or go in. Ice maker will freeze up and we have to take it apart, get the ice out, clean it and put it back in. Repair man came out 6 times and never did fix anything. He finally said that is just the way it is designed. Worthless.

Had this in my apartment. Landlord replaced an GE fridge with this. Granted it cools very well. Was happy about that. The freezer space is very limited bc it doesn't have a space saver ice maker like LG or Samsung or the slightly nicer whirlpool cousin.

There would be days I would be filled with anger and frustration as I'd be on my way to work in the morning tried to grab something from the door shelves and the contents would crash down resulting in broken glass jars . There is a major but simple manufacturing flaw on this fridge no other fridge I saw at Lowe's has. The grooves the shelves have are not as deep as its competitors in similar price range so they easily fall out if the shelf is semi full and you lift it.

Furthermore the other super annoying con was that water dispenser. You notice how that water nozzle is positioned forward to the ice maker. Some dummy at Whirlpool didn't realize that the nozzle drips after dispensing water and doesn't drip on the drip tray like it's supposed to. Rather it goes down your nice stainless steel front causing calcification and water stains down the door to the floor like a white line.

Ice maker is annoying as it makes a very cheap whiny sound that is very audible when it's braking the cubes. Way louder than any GE, LG, Whirlpool, Samsung model I've ever encountered.

I now live in another apartment where the landlord put in a Whirlpool side by side that does have a in door ice production unit so the freezer space is much larger. The water dispenser and ice are also side by side and not on top of each other meaning the drip tray serves its function. That is a much better model than this item. Also the ice maker when breaking the cubes is way quieter that this model. Whirlpool knows how to make a decent fridge rather than this half a$$ product. Needs to be discontinued

The installation kit is $17.48, I wonder what I need to install this fridge? Isn't it as simple as plugging the power?

To be fair, there is not a single fridge SD recommends even close to this price. Every modern affordable fridge sucks, get passed the initial "failure window" and they are all the same.

Yep, bought counter depth whirlpool side by side with ice on door (swore I wouldn't get another ice in door, but wanted counter depth)....and 4 months in the gear to the ice dispenser split apart. Also its loud and I feel like the freezer defrosts too much compared to my old whirlpood

I have this fridge. It is the loudest fridge I have ever had. Its actually the second one I have dealt with. When I moved in to my rental, I told the landlord that the evaporator fan motor sounded like it was failing it was abnormally loud. Well they decided to replace the fridge altogether with the same model.
Its even louder.
I haven't had any shelf issues and the ice maker does work if you have it on the colder settings. But the noise of this refrigerator is omnipresent throughout my whole house. I have it wrapped in moving blankets. Its a POS.

I've got one. I haven't had the major issues with shelves falling, or significant ice maker clogs. Had it almost a year. The freezer side is small, plus the ice maker takes too much space. I have a separate freezer. The water/ice dispenser is a bit of a problem. Ice amount is unpredictable, water splashes over glass with full ice easily. Took awhile to get frig temp setting where we like it. It does a reasonable job keeping veggies fresh; longer than our old frig. The interior light is a eye level and glares. Shelf heights are fine; mine are strong. I would buy the next size up if I were getting it today. Runs around $1500.

I'm casually in the market for one (mine is making noise and is old but still works) and have been checking on various SD threads.I don't think I've seen a single fridge, at any price, where the comments weren't mostly negative. It's nuts. Almost makes me wanna learn to repair my aging one.

Looks exactly like my kenmore rebranded whirlpool fridge I have been using for the last 8 years with no issues.
