Is this a good price? Have a 'good' condition one for $1548.99 by me. Thoughts on Black Friday?

It's a good deal, specifically for the 24gb RAM which is a nice upgrade vs 16gb. If you're use case isn't that demanding you could get 16gb deal for closer to $1200 or so. But I would argue if *your* use case isn't that demanding, you could get better value for a high-spec Macbook Air instead.

The trick with waiting till black friday for a better deal is you might deal on a NEW MBP, but it's much more hit or miss if you'll be able to get a open-box deal, and open-box will almost always be better deal than new.

(edit: your instead of you're)

Gotcha. I'd be ok paying more than this for new (i think micro center sells for 1800). If I could get new for an extra 100 at 1650 I'd just go with that

I got the M5 with the micro center price match (base 16/512), but if this one drops any further I may just exchange.

YMMV with Bestbuy Openbox. It can either be like new or powered on daily for 2 years.

Been contemplating either trading in my M1 for 600 or getting a M4 Studio

I didnt check if it was an option for the openbox items, but the other day it generated a quote from a link on the new page. My bad, basically thinking out loud.

OK deal. Got a M4 Pro 24GB 1TB (The 14/20 version) a few weeks ago open box excellent for $1525.
A pro tip about Open Box from Best Buy - Apple will reset the warranty to the day you purchased the computer if you call them and send in your best buy reciept.

I bought this exact machine brand new for 1500$ a few months ago. Wait a few weeks and you can get this new in the upcoming sales.

Bought a good version that was flawless. Checked out at store. Note on sticker said "residue," which might have meant some finger oil on some keys. But a light cleaning at home removed all traces. AppleCare loaded instantly when I set up the laptop (I have Best Buy protection plus that has two years of AppleCare on devices). Battery cycle count was 3.

Yep, it's also up to the store manager to decide it's condition...I bought an iPad Air that was supposed to be in "excellent" condition....came with scratches on the back and a chip in the top surface glass...definately not "excellent"...that one went back.

On the flip side I bought 2 high-value TV's that were open box and they were like new!

YMMV, and be prepared to return it if it's not what you expect.

People keep saying wait for BF but the current $200 off on new models (and roughly equivalent off open box) is probably the lowest it's going to go until new models are imminent. I don't think we ever see much lower than that, do we?

Just brought from bestbuy the m5 16g 256g for $1,599. I might return that and get this instead.
