They're definitely a closeout. They're zigbee only and that's really confusing -- not all zigbee items are compatible with them. You'd want to buy all aqara sensors or pray to the right deities.

Dramatic aren't we? It's not that complicated. Aqara's a pretty popular brand, just buy Aqara devices and you can pair it to this system. Add it to HomeBridge or Home Assistant and you can expand the ecosystem. How is that complicated?

Most people who want home automation don't want to be limited to a single brand. And most people who want an HA setup are going to be using hubs that are more robust.I mean, sure, this has use cases. But you asked why they're cheap. Supply and demand is a good answer. They're certainly more worthwhile at $10 than $60.
