That code is for 10% off not 12.
Also, HIFIMAN refurbished or their open box is disgusting and nasty. They don't replace earpads and instead just wipe them off and not a very good job in the cleaning the department either.

They switched the percentage for that code, it's currently 12% off as advertised on the homepage of their website: https://store.hifiman.com/index.php/
You can also do the math yourself, 10% off $139 would total $125.10, while 12% off $139 totals $122.32, the actual total in cart with the code applied.

Out of curiosity, how many times have you received a refurb/open box headphone in poor condition from hifiman? The refurb edition xs I ordered over a year ago looked like they'd never been worn, and I've seen relatively few complaints in the previous frontpage deal threads.

The Sundara are widely considered in the audiophile community to be some of the best value headphones available in their normal price class (generally considered a meaningful step up over other venerable headphones in their price range such as the hd6xx), and at $122 they are an excellent value. The sundara until recently didn't tend to dip below $229 new and $152 refurb/OB on a good sale (frontpage at those prices within the past few months), though they're currently on sale for $179 new. The next meaningful step up, the hifiman edition xs, are $209 new or $175 refurb.

Sundara rtings review: https://www.rtings.com/headphones...ndara-2020

A few basics to get out of the way first, since I know people wander onto these headphone deals not realizing these are audiophile cans for critical listening: these headphones are wired only (no bluetooth or wireless connections of any kind), have no form of active noise cancelling, have extremely poor sound isolation (you can hear whats going on around you, and everyone around you can hear what you're listening to), and are fairly heavy and bulky. They are designed to be used at home with a dedicated audio setup.

The sundara uses a hammock style headband, have the standard size hifiman round earcups, and are more compact than hifiman's higher end oval earcup headphones; the sundara weighs 342g.
They are moderately power hungry due to having an impedance of 32 ohms with a sensitivity of 92 dB. While you might be able to get away with not using an amp if you have a high quality integrated audio solution on your motherboard and aren't planning on using eq (equalization) at all, I highly recommend using these headphones with a proper amp and eq. As planar magnetic headphones with reasonably low distortion they take rather well to eq, so eq is highly recommended (particularly to boost the bass to near harman levels, since the bass/sub-bass is quite lacking at stock). If you'd be eqing these headphones to a meaningful degree, an amp is basically required.
These headphones are not designed for portable use, and most phones and cheap usb-c to 3.5mm dongles will probably do a poor job driving them.

The largest issue with these headphones is hifiman's quality control, unfortunately hifiman is infamous for poor quality control and poor product longevity. Poor driver matching, driver failure after months (or less) of use, crackling or rattling sounds when moving your head, and more are all relatively common complaints with hifiman headphones including the sundara. This is not by any means guaranteed, the majority of purchasers receive headphones without glaring issues or premature failures, but hifimans quality control and product longevity still stands out as being distinctly worse than that of other major brands.

The refurbished sundara come with a 1 year standard warranty, from what I've heard lurking in forums hifiman's customer service tends to be semi-decent (at least in the US), but obviously ymmv.
Hifiman's warranty policy can be found here: https://store.hifiman.com/index.p...nty-policy

In my personal experience, the refurbished headphone I ordered previously from hifiman came in essentially pristine condition and have not had any issues whatsoever after over a year of regular use. That being said, this is only a single anecdotal experience, so ymmv.

Overall, if these headphones would fit your use cases and you're willing to purchase refurbished, the sundara at $122 are a rather good deal.

Also, if you love heavy bass, this may not be the headphone for you.
This is supposed to be neutral: normal hearing experience to appreciate all instruments.

If I got a dirty refurbished headset from them and do you think I would order from them again? What kind of stupid question is that. It clearly stated on their page the codes are for 10% off not 12.

I have a pair of refurb Sundaras from a couple of years ago. They arrived in as-new condition in the original packing and have worked faultlessly ever since. This year I bought Anandas and was planning to part fund them by selling the Sundaras but I still have them. Too good to part with. Just from my personal experience I'd jump on a pair at this price if I didn't already have mine.
