Pretty good price for a very good unit!

You use A1EVO with this and you have the 4800 with Dirac Live & Bass Control!
Here is a comparison to see the other differences.

wouldn't touch a refurb 4700 from them, I know them all too well. They're only legit on new & sometimes they will list as refurb to sell new to get around MAP. I have known this company for well over 20 years

OK, maybe I'm missing something here but why is selling a new unit as a refurb(or OB) at a significant discount a bad thing for buyers!!?

Because I highly doubt these 4700's are "new".. Normally, refurbs if they are actually "refurbs" are hit or miss at best. Now, it's an older 4700 which makes me question where did EE get them and are they refurbs, open box, laying around the store etc. you see, EE has a shady past at best. I have bought things from them in there retail stores when they actually had 10+ stores but they basically went bankrupt and have had one store now for prob 15+ years plus I wont even get into the history of the ownership as I know it very well.. Now they sell under there name , glamazon, and some other names. what I am saying is that if you have a problem with them it's going to be a pain to deal with them, unless it's a smoken deal and new, I would not deal with them and that's coming from someone who used to buy tons of things from them when they were some what legit years ago...if this was a 4800 , I would say it might be a new unit where they are posting "refurb" to get around MAP which they do all the time, others have posted on the web, etc they bought an open box and got a new one, etc but on a 4700 I wouldn't take the chance at all since it's a 4700. I would rather buy from them through ebay then there own site as ebay will cover your back with them or other electronic type stores like them, etc with less hassle. If you can get "new" unit from them then you can make out on a good price or a newer "open box" unit that 's actually prob new/sealed, etc.. you know what I mean.. I have seen some great deals from them on amazon/ebay/Audigon(keep an eye on that as they dump a bunch of things on there regularly) on "New" items over the years so of course it's YMMV..

I think you added more questions than answered.

Personally never ordered from them but they are an authorized seller.
I haven't heard anyone claim their purchase was "shady", including you.

If anything the opposite, happy getting a "new" unit with manufacturers warranty & zero issues.

Personally I would find it somewhat "shady" if they listed the discontinued 4700 as "new".

To keep this short, I would not pick up a 4700 as "refurbed" from them. Take what you want from that but like I said I know the store, been in the LAST store they now have and have bought from them in the past. I'm not saying anything about getting an open box model then getting a new sealed unit, that's all good and yes they have always been "Authorized" dealers. I am specifically calling out the 4700. If they are actual refurbs then I would stay away from them from EE..

To keep this short.....Again give us a specific reason why?

It's listed as "certified refurbished" and states "All Certified Refurbished products come with one year manufacturer warranty.".
How is this different from anyone else that may be selling a 4700, even directly from Denon?

it's no different except other sellers would be preferable on this item but if you chose to not put any weight on anything I have experienced/said regarding EE then that's your choice. Do you first hand know there tactics, history past 20+ years, been to there sole location that is left? No.... My question would be where did they source them from, denon, 3rd party repair place, etc....

The main point is if you have any issues, there not going to be "great" to work with but it's not my purchase or $$$, so anyone can do what ever they want to as it's there purchase. I also stated prior that they would prob be fine if open box/new, etc but selling a actual "refurb" 4700. I'm just not a fan buying it from them from actual experiences.....I'll leave it at that as it's self explanatory.......Unlike others on here that have gone back and forth with you on issues /topics for pages that is not my agenda, it's as simple as that.

This is a perfect example why that happens.I ask a simple question with an obvious simple answer, but never an answer!
Again you gave no specific answer to your point!

Your "point" and its "issue", where they "source" this 4700.
Should/would apply to ANY of these other "preferable" sellers!

The reason I asked was actually genuine this time because you said you have bought directly from them for 20 years!

The only reference we have in here are all the positive comments from people that have purchased from them.
You can just look back at all prior post, none mentioned any shady tactics from them.

Anyways thanks, I guess, moving on.

It's kinda pointless to argue with someone like him. Various members are incentivized to "sell sell sell" and gaslight folks with honest, bad experiences. I had given a story of how I purchased a video camera from EE (in store) and realized they had sold me someone's return. This realization was confirmed when I purchased the same camera from Circuit City and the packaging was obviously brand new and untouched. A member on SD (who disclosed himself as a vendor to EE) pooh poohed my story. I guess members here will find out sooner or later whether these stories are real!
