I have a Craftsman 968514 reverse stapler that I bought back when Craftsman was still made in the USA. Still works like new. I wonder how this plastic Stanley/Black and Decker Chinese version will hold up.

It's not built the same. Mine is somewhere buried in my house in some bag that I just haven't found yet. So I bought this the last time it was 9.99. My needs for it aren't robust. Generally putting up targets at the range, and that's all I need it for. Saw it was 9.99 again and was going to post it and saw it already was.

The toughest job it's had so far is actually tacking down the cardboard target backer to the wood frame. With this one feeling very cheap in comparison to the old metal one, I was wondering if it would have the oomph. It handled 4mm thick cardboard and basic pine well. 8 shots around and the staple was as tight down to the wood as it could be. Actually forgot it the one day as I was switching range bags and had to use tape, so with it at 9.99 again, was a no brainer to pick up another one.

I also have the Arrow T50HS which is $16.50 on Amazon. [amazon.com] I have that one as well, and it's kind of the baby of the old and new powershot. A little mix of metal and plastic. Feels a little more heavy duty. Just haven't had a chance to put either to any heavy duty use. No projects for them at the moment. Feel like they'd both do fine for upholstery and similar projects.

One plus for the arrow though. It will do 5/8" Brad nails in addition to staples.

I was able to clip a $1.50 off coupon, making my total $8.49.
