The 610 for 99 is probably the better deal right? I have one and love it

Why is that? If you have a small room c610 might be a good choice.

I got two of these as refurbs for work. One thing I like is that at 75% of the highest setting, level three, the noise is very reasonable and as long as the unit is not right next to me, I don't notice it much.
If you compare the various models from winix, this is on the higher end for capacity. That means that if you have a room that's significantly smaller than what this unit is rated for, you can use it on a lower setting and get the same cleaning as a smaller unit on a higher setting.

The c610 is probably a fine choice, but the c909 is rated for a 30% larger room (500 ft² versus 384 ft²). This difference counts for a lot when considering how much cleaning the unit can do at which setting. C909 is a bit of a chunky unit so may not be a good choice for a small room, but if you ever need to use it in a larger space, the larger capacity will do a lot of good. In a small room, the c909 can clean the air on a lower setting, therefore quieter, then the c610 could. If you don't spend time in the room in question, that might not be a big deal, but noise level is everything if you have to hear it.

If this didn't have forced plasmawave on every time you start it I'd be interested

Does anyone know the in-store price of the same item?

I don't think they sell this in store, strictly on line only. I've never seen it in store here locally.

I have a c909 and two c610s. The c909 is much more powerful. I would only suggest c610 for a small bedroom.

I wanna return and re-buy a 45 day unit as price adjustment isn't possible anymore.. Does anyone know if Costco records serial # on these. It is easier to just return the new item with the older receipt.

Completely agree with your assessment.

I returned the C610 for the C909 for several reasons:
  • The C909 takes a standard Filter A - 115115 which you can get cheap after market filters for, or even cheap deals on the OEM ones (low as $25).
  • The C909 is quieter than the C610 for the amount of air it moves.
  • The C610 only works well on the turbo speed but is very loud. The high speed on C610 is a joke and doesn't move much air at all compared to the C909.
I'm planning to pick up another of these for a larger room to see how well it does, but for a bedroom, it works well at reducing pollen. Just know that the smart app is kinda crappy for iOS and Android and you must connect to a 2.4GHz wireless network for it to work.

Bought this last black friday and it's been incredible how big of a difference the air quality has been. The Winix app works great too.
