Bought this bike several months ago for $400 and have just under 100 miles riding it. If you aren't willing and able to tinker/tune-up a bicycle, this bike is not for you. I'm an engineer and very mechanically inclined. My bike was missing a steering head stem bolt, front rotor was warped, brakes were WAY out of adjustment and the derailer needed to be adjusted too. This is a 6 speed bike, NOT 7. The shifter on the handle bar has 7 speeds but the derailer has 6 and doesn't have adjustability to hit the 6th gear. Check bolt torque on EVERY bolt. Nearly all bolts were barely hand tight. When airing up the tires, take time to center the tube in the wheel and that the tire bead sits on the inside lip of the wheel. Took me a few attempts to get it right. Aliexpress customer service is non-existent, if there's an issue you are on your own. Buyer be warned. This bike sits pretty high, if you are height challenged, it may feel awkward for you.
This is a China parts bin bike, you can find replacement parts for everything but you've got to search! Rotors are a bit of pain to find due to the odd center to center bolt spacing. Youtube the video on assembly, it might save you a few mins of head scratching.
I hate how the front wheel mounts to the forks. Under braking, the entire assembly torques on the front forks. TBH, this bike is scarily built for doing 28 mph. I've ridden motorcycles since I was a teen and joke I should wear a full track suit and helmet with it.
The mechanical brakes are horrible for a bike this heavy that'll go this fast. As long as you recognize you cannot stop on a dime at 20+mph then ok.
Note this is a class 3 bike technically. If you ride in parks for only class 2, only use PAS mode 2 (19mph cap). Get a class 2 sticker and you'll "technically" be compliant. Other bikers may get pissed off if you're ripping past them at 20+! This is a novice trail bike. If you jump this bike more than a foot you don't expect to land in one piece.

The parts are usually commoditized/generic and can be found on ali express/amazon, but depends on the bike. Don't expect anyone to come repair it though. At best you will have parts sent to you and you swap it or hope your local bike shop is willing to work on it for a cost. That said, they aren't hard to work on if you have basic mechanic skills. The only special tool I needed in addition to a basic tool set was a crank arm puller and a spider nut, both of which can be had for ~$20 on Amazon, and it's rare you need to pull those off. I just wanted longer crank arms.

Same here I have three entry level china e bikes I purchased some years back at near twice this price and all have been fine. Just got back from 30 mile trip today.

I compare my build quality to some much higher end bikes and see little or no difference. I also warn it is the higher end bike makers are closing up shop as ebikes become more of a commodity and they will be the bikes you are less likely to find a parts for. Higher end and over engineered things have more proprietary parts and always cost more and are harder to repair than the more common versions. It is part of the marketing strategy to make them that way.

Make sure you keep the giant box and be ready to ship the bike at your expense. My bike has error code e10 after 18 miles of usages. They said they'll refund the shipping cost.
Why throw your hands in the air, put down your weapons and lose the battle before the fight has even started.

Why not contact your CC company and do a chargeback if they refuse to pay for shipping. If you look at the policies they state "Free Returns". My argument with the CC company would be that that is deceptive and I am about 100% sure I will win it.

PayPal sucks on claims. Its best to pay directly with your credit card.

How is that even in ali express people have different responses like one says amazing to ride and able to setup correctly without any damage due to great packing while other one says missing screw or banged up display? I guess at this point best to stay away. Even Amazon has similar reviews and one thing to watch out is whoever is selling is not the manufacturer so meaning, you will be stuck between the seller vs manufacturer vs market place. A bit risky but want to experience positive encounters like all other slickdealers
I've gambled on three China e bikes from deals found here and all have been fine going on three years now. If we wait for all risk to go away in any situation you will never play. I would advise to jump in at some point as I have had blast on my ebikes. Me and the wife out last weekend and did thirty miles easily and it was very much fun and really enjoyable. It is like having super powers at the age of sixty three

You can get more assurity but you will have to pay for it. To get basically the same quality bike if you want a company to pick up the risk it is going to cost much more. Even then you may not get safety as high end and high cost bike dealers are going kaput at alarming levels and leaving customers in lurch. The more generic china bikes like this one that use of the shelf parts are the more maintainable. There are user groups popping up for some of the brands that can be of help and it is risk but most parts on these bikes are generic off the shelf stuff.

I go in with the idea that is risk is involved but that is true of any product. A car I paid $28,000 I found had horrible support after the fact and sometimes you do get bit but this is much smaller matter on something that costs less than most pay for cell phones.

You can go in smart, use a CC document where they say free returns and if you get a dud you got that.

As to actual support from what I am seeing and reading you may or may not get it and even if you get it it may be tedious and frustrating to get but I try to keep calm knowing it not something I paid for. We can't expect first class service when we pay 3rd class fares.

I don't trust Costco, Amazon, Apple, BMW, Ford or the guy down the street that sells me the used car yet I can get value from them all.

The myth is still out there that they offer some value and it was hardly ever the case. If anything Paypal is the place that will rip you off. The literally would not let people withdraw their funds at one time.

Bought this exact bike a couple months ago. I would say it's worth the $318 price tag, but a couple caveats:

1) bike is a TANK. Not really a surprise, but if the battery runs out and you still have real estate between you and your destination, good luck.
2) my particular bike's horn and front lamp/light controller (same controller for both) came dead on arrival. I never bothered contacting customer support because i don't know if id ever use them. Not really a deal breaker for me.
3) settings on the digital computer are confusing as hell. There are like 25 settings in total, and some of them...I have no idea what they are for. It basically just says what setting number you're on (1-25), and then the setting option, also in numeric format. You can find the explanation online on Reddit, but no one agrees on what the best settings are. I simply found the setting that adjusts power assist and went with that. Recommendation is to just stick with the default settings. Once you go down the rabbit hole of messing with settings, you won't remember what the defaults are and then you're screwed until you figure out how to reset to factory settings.
4) power assist: I bought this thinking I would use maybe 20% power assist so I could still manage to get some sort of aerobic exercise. Even on the lowest setting, it will be 90% power assist up to 11mph and there's no way to adjust it so that you have more manual pedal power unless you turn power assist off completely, but then you're stuck driving a tank (see #1). Settings are 1-5, max will get you up to around 25 mph, but anything slower than what any particular assist setting's minimum speed is set to, and it's all bike. Personally, I do not like this and it's killed my ambition to use it at all.

Outside of any of these issues, I still think it's worth buying as a starter bike.
Thank you! Your #4 point means I dont want it. Do you have a bike recommendation that will allow a low power assist so it can be used for exercise?

what is the weight of the bike? if you have a car bike rack for it, which one did you purchase?
Usually a trailer motorcycle rack like the one harbor sells

Unfortunately I do not. This is my only experience. Don't get me wrong, this is a pretty good deal for the price, but yes...it doesn't bode well for bike enthusiasts that also want a bit of cardio.

My order is also stuck in Walnut, CA and is already past the delivery date. Submitted a refund because Fedex said the package could not be delivered, when I called Fedex they said the delivery tag was all screwed up and they put another on but could not salvage the address from the tag and it needed to confirm it with the shipper (not me). AliExpress responded back that the refund is not confirmed because the package is still in transit. I wish I did not loan them money for the next 30 days and I really hope I dont need to involve charge backs. Sigh.

I have I guess a similar bike and controller but found that is sweet spot to get cardio but it does have to be going a bit past 11 mph. From what you describe I am assuming mine is kind of the same as this. I gear all the way up to 7 and stay in assist 1 to 3. There is a point where gaining or maintaining speed does require pedalling. I would think your bike is similar.

I came home form 30 mile trip last week and my calves hurt for sure and I was winded and heart pumping while cruising. It did take having some open road to find that sweet spot and I have the problem you state when going slower in lower gears. The bike is jumpy then.

The think one of the problems is the limit of seven gears. I have a twenty one speed and can always find a spot requiring pedalling much easier

Let us know how it goes. It was my plan with any of the three China ebikes I bought if I got a dud. I did notice that Ali has took the "Free Retunrs" of the main sales page but if you go to terms it still says free return on damaged or not working items. That is where I got the screen cap.
