Secondly, a friendly reminder - not everyone needs unlimited talk/text/data. Some people just want an emergency phone, or something with a valid number that they can give out for spammy crap like stores asking for a phone number for discounts. You said so yourself. If you think that's not useful - enjoy all that spam, I guess.
Thirdly, a 4G radio is fine for most applications. A micro SD card slot will let you add half a freaking terabyte of storage for 20 or 30 bucks. No one using this kind of phone needs more than 4gb of ram. These are great devices for people who just want to fit an absolute crap ton of apps, music, movies, and TV onto a phone.

What do you want for $40.00?
Then again, this is coming from someone who didn't get ANY mobile until 2006ish....so I survived just fine for quite a few decades with a landline. Maybe folks today aren't as resilient?
And why would I give out my phone number to stores? You can simply say "no thank you" and be done with it. Try saying "no" once in a while, it's a hoot!
Went ahead and got this. Never ordered from QVC so not worried about getting it.
I have been looking for a better android phone than my current Cricket Ovation 2 from 2021. I don't use it for cellular, it is for a few apps that I have that are android only, and the Ovation 2 was slow when I got it, so 4 years later is is not any better. I am not expecting this to be amazing by any means, but should meet my needs for quite a while.
the bonus with this is I get 2 phones, with minimal plan, and will be unlocked in 2 months if I want to use it elsewhere (the 5 gig Infimobile deal that pops up occasionally would be a good fit for a spare phone).
Curious, anyone know how long I have to activate the lines? I could do one of them now, and in a year do the other one (or just do the 2nd one if I go through the plan before a year, which I don't expect to).
I also have both phones: Moto G Play 2024 in this thread, and Moto G 5G 2025. The answer would depend on how young your son is. If this is just a distraction toy and maybe an emergency communicator, Play 2024 would be more than capable and cheap enough that you'll have a backup when he smashes one. This deal also comes with an extra year of serivce when combined. Otherwise, the 5G 2025 would last him a couple years longer, with the addition of 5G, Esim, NFC, and an extra year of updates. But you'll have to buy the extra years of service separately; sooner if he becomes active on social.
I also have the 3rd phone mentioned, the Moto G Stylus 2025, and it is every bit as good as SKV4m indicated. But that's also more than 2x the price of both of the deals here, especially when considering service plan costs.
TL;DR - Get him 2x Moto G Play 2024 as toys. Get Moto G 5G 2025 to future-proof. Get Moto G Stylus 2025 for yourself.

First I heard of that......so standard operating procedure for me is to just try a different rep when tracfone agents feed you a line of BS.
I try to go through customer service chat that way you can make a record of everthing that happens in case benefits or a line is lost (allthough sometimes it doesn't help as tracfone will just disregard any and all proof you have). However I had three in a row state the same thing, so I began to wonder if there was a policy change. Anyway I did it via the online tool and it worked (although I later had to switch sims after line was deactivated 24 or 48 hours later), allowing me to transfer benefits from my new phones to an existing line and retain the existing line's number.
I was wondering if you noticed any changes if you did a benefit transfer recently.
I don't want to stack because if I did, I would not be able to unlock the 2nd one. Or could I stack the plan on 1 SIM and use it in 1 phone for 2 months, unlock it, then move the SIM to the other phone, and it would be able to be unlocked after 2 months as well?
If so, that would be nice.
