Barely 2 miles unless you're in a completely open area with line of sight. No one uses these on top of two mountains to communicate with each other at great distances

FRS according to their pictures. I could not find transmission power, but strangely their website had an AI label. Guess what. No AI in this. Amazon reviews say 0.5W transmission on FRS channels (presumably 8-14) and 2W on GMRS channels (presumably all others).

Neither of my talkabout batteries no longer work, lasted not even a year and a half--used them about 4 times. Total garbage, Motorola is trash at this point in my experience.
