BT pros: Connects to nearly all devices, you can use the controller without the phone being in it. Can use phone in more orientation/positions. cons: More input lag, it's a lot more noticeable in certain genre of games, and also depends on how sensitive you are to it. Can't do pass-through charging so have to charge both devices. heavier, due to battery.
USB-C pros: Less input lag, can do pass-through charging, lighter weight because no battery. cons: Only certain phones can fit in the controller, the orientation and position of the phone is determined by the port position. The port can break/become loose.
Also, I feel like not many people know this, but the G8+ can play via USB-C with a cable connected to the port on the controller. Can't do charge pass-through/bypass because there's only one port though.
Love the controller though. I use it mostly for PS5 streaming through PXPlay with my Z Fold 6.

I bought this for $60 on Amazon and its still worth what I paid. Simply the best phone gaming pad. It comes with different D-pad attachments and magnetic Faceplate. It also has 3 connectivity modes and charge bypass.

I paid 55 after tax on ali express earlier this year. I printed an extension and have my samsung s9 tablet on this. It is great my main gripe is the battery dies fast. It doesn't turn off after inactivity. You have to hold the pair button for 5 seconds to shut off.

The G8 has charging bypass and connects via usb-c. This one, the G8+, does not. It uses Bluetooth to connect to your device. Both are great. I have and use both with extensions for my tablets. I use them for emulation and ps5 streaming with PXPlay.

this is not documented. There is an additional usb 2.4 ghz mode. You need to buy the adapter on aliexpress. It works great for xinput/xbox mode. BT mode is limited to DirectInput or switch like most multi device controllers.

I own the lenovo legion version, which is the same controller, just rebranded and usb only. Hands down, the best phone/tablet controller I have tried. I modded mine so It could fit a 11inches tablet. Usually I always find something I dislike about a controller, but with this one, I couldn't find a single thing I didn't like.
$45 for the bluetooth version is a steal.

I have these and it comes with different types of joysticks, but NOT d-pads. The different joysticks are wonderful bc I prefer convex for the left and small for the right since the regular can get in the way of the Start bottom.

I found the lag over Bluetooth to be unusable (because it adds controller lag on top of streaming lag when using PXPlay/Steam/etc)

Yeah if you're going to be streaming games I'd pick a USB-C gamepad. Although if you're using SteamLink and you're close to your pc, you can just connect the controller to your pc via Bluetooth and the lag isn't that bad.

I have the G7, so this one might have been improved with this model, but another con with the USB-C is that if you have a case on your phone you may have to remove it every time you want to use the controller. My S21 FE doesn't work with my G7 even with the thin case I have on it because the USB-C plug on the controller does not protrude far enough to get a proper connection.

I have the same problem, I need to take my phone out of the case to use my G7. The other thing I noticed is that it powers off after a few minutes, so let's say I take a break from gaming for a few minutes to answer some messages, etc, but I leave my phone connected, if I don't press a button for a few minutes it powers off and you need to the press the round button on the right side to turn it back on. Otherwise, it's a fantastic controller. But this is a steal for the G8+.
