I'll preface this by saying that I am a home gamer and I use my ratchet primarily to work on my kid's cars. I use this thing to zing bolts on and off. I don't use it for torque. If I want torque, I use an impact. I've actually found that I have to be careful with this ratchet or it will overtighten small fasteners like hose clamps or intake bolts and strip them out. Obviously, it doesn't have the torque to take off a caliper bracket (the higher torque model wouldn't either). I'd take speed over torque on this kind of tool.
If you're eligible to shop at a military exchange, you can log into Home Depot from the exchange website, and the price drops to $179 with no sales tax.
This Milwaukee M12 Fuel kit pairs a 3 8 inch ratchet with a 1 4 inch impact driver for compact car and DIY work. The ratchet is praised for speed in tight spaces, especially for loosening bolts and snugging small fasteners, while the impact driver is better suited to screws and wood work. The ratchet is the lower torque 2567 20 model, so it is more about quick spinning than heavy breakaway power, and it can overtighten small hardware if pushed. The M12 size and Fuel brushless build also make it feel lighter and more durable than larger 18 volt tools.
DIY mechanics working in tight engine bays, because the short ratchet fits cramped spaces and is useful for loosening, snugging, and fast bolt removal.
People needing high-torque ratchet work on stubborn fasteners, because this ratchet is the lower-torque model and is weaker than the higher-torque version.
People who want a single driver for both bolts and screws, because the impact driver is better suited to screws and only works on bolts with an adapter.
No. The kit includes the 2567-20 ratchet, which is the faster but lower-torque version at 35 lb max torque. The higher-torque 2557-20 is rated at 55 lb max torque.
The 3/8 in. ratchet is better for tightening and removing bolts, especially small fasteners around 13 mm and under, because it gives more feel in tight spaces. The 1/4 in. impact driver is better for screws than bolts, though it can be used with the proper adapter.
Yes. It is fast enough that it can overtighten small fasteners like hose clamps or intake bolts if you are not careful, so it is best used for zipping bolts on and off or snugging them rather than final torque.
Yes. The ratchet is short enough for tight spots, works well for removing bolts after loosening them, and the impact driver's light helps in dark areas. The M12 tools are also smaller and lighter than 18V tools, which makes them easier to handle for car work.
Yes. Eligible military exchange shoppers can log into Home Depot through the exchange site and reportedly get the kit for $179 with no sales tax. AAFES also reportedly offers a Home Depot link with 10% off and no tax.
I would recommend this if you already have m12 products and need this or if you're a DIY person and want to have some good lasting tools. The ratchet is great for removing nuts and bolts after you have loosened them or using it to get them snug. It's short enough to get in tight places so for car work it's been great. I bought the m12 fuel insider extended ratchet and still ended up using the non-fuel m12 ratchet more often. Also the impact drivers works great and the light features come in handy when it's dark. Again if you want to get a start on having good tools or already have the brand and don't have these, they work great. Ps the m12 brand works great for females, my wife has no problems using them and finds they work great because they are smaller than the 18v tools.
When I was mechanic everyone loved the low torque snap on air ratchet. Did not smack your knuckles. I have the 450rpm Milwaukee. Would not trade for the slower higher torque model.
They both can get the job done but one is likely to last longer (Milwaukee) especially since it's the fuel brushless version. Idk the specs on the ryobi deal but they usually are cheap and lack power. A plus side for the m12 is it's lighter than the 18v models of power tools. So car wise Milwaukee would be toyota for the reliability and higher value and ryobi would be nissan being cheaper and lower in value.
