Community Reviews

Milwaukee Forge XC8.0 batteries are drawing attention as a strong upgrade for high drain tools, especially chainsaws, circular saws, Hackzalls, water pumps, and outdoor power equipment. The battery is described as delivering noticeably more power and runtime, with bigger gains on larger tools and a clear edge over older non Forge packs. The deal also works in store through the BOGO hack, which can leave the battery at about $115 after returning the paired item. The main caution is that partial returns and account bans have followed some hacked purchases, so the workaround carries real return policy risk.

Forge XC8.0 batteries can provide strong power and runtime for demanding jobs like a water pump and chainsaw.

The HACK process can work in-store, with receipts itemizing each product before returning the extra item.
Jeremiah1943 Pony66
Forge XC8.0 batteries can deliver noticeably more power than prior 12.0 Forge experience in tools like Hackzall.
AquaMeat9126
Torque Test Channel testing suggests Forge XC8.0 gains are larger with bigger tools such as a 1-inch impact gun.

Home Depot account bans can occur after attempting Milwaukee tools hacks involving BOGO returns.
jackbauer24 scb435
Some stores may refuse refunds on partial returns for these BOGO purchases, which can tighten return policies.
Mike7311
Forge XC8.0 performance gains can be negligible on smaller impacts and grinders compared with 6Ah High Output batteries.
Taco_Doomsday
The hack may only work once for some shoppers, and it may not work again after the first attempt.

Common Questions (4)

The Forge XC8.0AH can deliver noticeably more power and runtime, especially on larger tools. It has been reported to make a Hackzall stronger, run a water pump for well over an hour, and power a big chainsaw all morning, while gains are smaller on compact tools and grinders.
AquaMeat9126 SunsetSuperman Taco_Doomsday SunsetSuperman
Accounts can be banned after repeated Milwaukee tool hacks, especially when many return-heavy orders are involved. Partial-return BOGO purchases may also be refused at some stores, so the risk is real.
jackbauer24 Mike7311 scb435
Add one listed Milwaukee item plus the 8.0 Forge battery, complete the purchase, then Home Depot itemizes the receipt so the primary item can be returned separately while keeping the battery. That leaves the battery at about $115.
Jeremiah1943 Pony66
Yes. The deal can be purchased in store, with the receipt showing each item separately, and the extra item can be returned later or next day while keeping the battery.

My buddy in Hawaii says cheap peeps buy surf boards from costco & return them back after their vacay is over. Lol.

It's a pretty crappy thing to do. Ethics are hard to come by for some folks.

I am new to Milwaukee, hence unaware of the discounts. Forge 8.0 + Forge 12.0 battery for $299 + tax, is this a good deal or wait for Black Friday?

That is a good deal, best I have personally done is (2) 8.0 and (2) 12.0 forge for 400 + tax from Acme tools. The Forge batteries do provide more power too for some tools, my Hackzall was noticeable more powerful the first time I used a Forge on it. With the tarrifs in place, this might be one of the best deals for Forge batteries. I am tempted by the M18 dual battery supercharger with two 8.0 Forge, already have four 12.0 Forge and use the 8.0 more often due to weight and size

I did the hack a couple months ago to two different stores. I didn't pick up my second item so that they would just return to stock and refund me. It still showed available for pick up 3 weeks later, then suddenly one day the store marked the item as picked up. Had to call them to say I didn't pick anything up and the store says they have no idea what happened. They marked it as picked up because they thought it was picked up. Makes no sense.

I guess it was inevitable. You had to figure all those returns resulting in open box product were a ticking time bomb. People couldn't figure out how to cancel part of an order right after purchase, or at the very least do a pickup order and then return the unwanted item right there at the desk without leaving the store, so the associate wouldn't have to open the box and inspect the return. And resellers getting 20, 50, 100+ orders of hacked red and yellow tools delivered and stacked in their driveways probably didn't help.

Resellers are the worst. They ruin everything from Pokemon to guitars to power tools.

Banning is kind of BS. If you don't want the hack to happen, then don't let the hack happen.

Agreed, banning accounts is a stupid thing to do to legit customers. It's easy enough to require the entire bundle of items to be returned for a refund, HD does that on certain online deals and that's what Lowes always used to do.

Forge batteries are legit. I can't speak to their longevity, but they definitely deliver on power and runtime.
