This is the 'good' 3.0 battery (CP), but I wish they'd refresh this.

They finally put out one that can charge M18 batteries from a 100W USB-C PD supply... buut they omitted the AC inverter: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwa.../335919180

That AC inverter is almost make or break, right? Wouldn't that be one of the biggest selling points for a unit like this?

From what I'm gathering this is a very solid deal. Depending on where you shop for it, the battery itself is worth more than half of this deal and the unit is normally priced at around this listing so you're basically getting a free battery that's perfect for drills, etc.

I have been looking for one of these inverters so I am happy to be able to grab one at this price and grab a battery for my drills.

Thanks OP!

Ugh the deal in past years was $99 for the inverter and a 5.0XC batt. This is literally the use case for an XC instead of HO. Please make this make sense!?

Depends what you're looking for. There are use cases for the USB-C only version of it (keeping portable devices charged), and the fact that it can charge M18 batteries without a chunky M18 charger is nice.
This one with the AC inverter has limitations, too - 175W isn't a whole heck of a lot so the most you can expect to run off of it would be like a fan, radio, lights, etc. - forget anything high demand like a mini space heater, coffee maker, vacuum, etc.

The CP 3.0 HO is actually one of their more preferable batteries because it's light/compact. I'd rather have another CP 3.0 HO than a chunky old 5.0 that has less output/capacity than my 6.0-8.0 HO/Forge batteries of approx the same size. These deals without a charger are always geared for folks who already have some tools/batteries

An awesome tool with one of my favorite batteries. I use my top off primarily as a USB charger but when it really shines is during power outages when I use it to power my modem and router. The battery is great for handheld tools like drills and impacts where you prefer lighter weight to ultimate run time but still get some of the benefit of the HO batteries. Good deal all around IMO.

Just curious how long does it last powering the modem router on what size battery?

18V/6AH bat is approx 108Wh. Modem/router could be anywhere from 5-20W (potentially more), so after the AC conversion/efficiency loss, you're probably looking at somewhere in the range of 4-15 hrs.
