These worth the upgrade over the gen2?

If I remember, the 4th gen does a better job or utilizing sensor data to keep the house evenly heated/cooled?
Our home offices get toasy in the summer....wouldn't mind a little more even cooling....I'd have to get 2 of them, not sure if it's worth the almost 500 clams.

Gen2 is no longer supported. Check with your local utility company website to see if there are rebates available to offset the cost

I think I can get them for around $200/ea through my utility company. My E (gen2?) still works fine

E is NOT Gen 2. E is its own economy line that was never upgraded and was quickly discontinued, and came after LEARNING Thermostat Gen 3

I'll have to do some research to see if it's worth the upgrade. Happy with the gen 4?

I have one of these, can't say how much better they are compared to the old ones as this is my first Nest Thermostat. I think it works fine, I have several remote sensors and can see and control temperatures in different locations but keep in mind that only makes the system run more or less time, so to get a different room at your ideal temperature, the others will also go up or down more than they should. It's not a replacement for a zoned system.

I hate the smart features and have disabled almost all of them. I want to be in control of the temperature in the house. I don't want it to be way off when I'm away and then have the system run super hard to get to temperature when I'm back.

My HVAC tech said Nest sucks and that he'd much rather I continued on the Honeywell they used, that gives much more granular control of when each stage of the system gets triggered.

This one only works with the Google Home App, not the Nest app so if you're used to that on the old gen, you'll have to learn the other app and it's gotten better but it's not great.

What thermostats are folks getting if not the nest?
I'm thinking ecobee, have you researched which other options work well? I'm not into smart learning or anything like that, just need an app with ability to program for the week!!

Get ecobee enhanced. Google already stopped supporting the gen1 and 2 nest even though they work just fine. There's a lawsuit already in the works.

Doesn't the rebate require the company be able to control temp?
