On the other hand, the 13" surface pro tablet is half a pound heavier than this one, so there is that downside.
IMO microsoft kinda dropped the ball on this one. The specs would be okay if it had 5G or something and they sold it as a go-everywhere thing, but none of the 12" models have 5G either, have to get 13" for that too.

This is what I found via extensive research
TIER S
-Surface Laptop 7 15" - Snapdragon X 12-core that actually has the thermal headroom to run at full speed and a larger battery so that it doesn't kill battery life
TIER A
-Surface Laptop 7 13.8" Snapdragon X 10-core - Similar speed as the Surface Laptop 7 13.8" 12-core due to thermal throttling, but +20% battery life even for light tasks due to having 2 less cores to power
TIER A-
-Surface Laptop 7 13.8" Snapdragon X 12-core - Similar speed as the Surface Laptop 7 13.8" 10-core due to thermal throttling, but -20% battery life even for light tasks due to having 2 more cores to power
TIER B+
-Surface Pro 11 13" Snapdragon X 10-core - Slower than the Surface Laptop 7 13.8" due to thermal throttling. Similar speed as the Surface Pro 11 13" 12-core due to thermal throttling, but +20% battery life even for light tasks due to having 2 less cores to power
TIER B
-Surface Pro 11 13" Snapdragon X 12-core - Slower than the Surface Laptop 7 13.8" due to thermal throttling. Similar speed as the Surface Pro 11 13" 10-core due to thermal throttling, but -20% battery life even for light tasks due to having 2 more cores to power
TIER D
-Surface Laptop 7 13" Snapdragon X 8-core - Much slower than the laptop 7 13.8"+ and Surface Pro 11 13" due to having less CPU cores and a GPU that is less than half the power of the GPU in the 10 & 12 core models.
-Surface Pro 11 12" Snapdragon X 8-core - Much slower than the laptop 7 13.8"+ and Surface Pro 11 13" due to having less CPU cores and a GPU that is less than half the power of the GPU in the 10 & 12 core models.
