Tom's HW says it has DRAM, runs hot, so you should probably consider getting a heatsink if installing in a desktop (or even a laptop, so can fit shallow heatsinks).

Well none of that sounds goods, especially cause the Samsung 990 is only $7 more (at Walmart). I mean these prices all SUCK vs. before Orange Clown hit China with the tariffs but...

This P41 and another called P44 Pro have a permanent, as of yet unfixed bug in the firmware that gradually blocks out its high speed write cache from being used. This will drop peak write speeds from 6500MBs to 2000 or less over time, apparently about a year depending on use.

Some owners claim they never notice it, some claim an update fixes it, and some say the fix is temporary. You can also factory reset the drive to temporarily open up the cache again.
But why risk buying a defective SSD when it's not even that good a deal? There are other SSDs as fast for the same price without unfixable bugs like this. I got a 2TB Samsung 990 Pro w/o heatsink for 118 bucks, and I could have saved another 10 bucks if I had found the coupon in my email.

Don't really want to get political, but he hit us with teriffs. China doesn't pay those. If we want China goods we have to pay the terrifs. It does make China goods look less appealing though.

Found one in store at Staples, they're on clearance to make room for the PCIE5 versions. Might have trouble finding one today, though.

This 100%. Happened to me a few months ago. Got it replaced under warranty and then sold the replacement. Used that money to buy a Samsung 990 Pro.
