Community Reviews
Bose Ultra Open Earbuds stand out for open ear listening with strong sound, a secure clip on fit, and enough comfort for workouts, runs, chores, and hearing your surroundings. The light design stays put during movement, and the updated firmware helps the microphone enough for basic calls in some settings. The main knocks are call quality complaints on some units, awkward on bud controls, and fit that can feel too tight or odd for long wear. Open box condition and fake unit concerns also come up, so this is best when sound and awareness matter more than call use.
Common Questions (5)
The mic can be very inconsistent: firmware updates reportedly improve it, but some users still find it unusable for phone calls. It may be serviceable for casual use, but it is not a strong choice if calls or voice chat are important.
Yes. The open-ear design stays put during workouts and runs, and they're reported not to pop out even with head movement. They also let you hear your surroundings, which makes them useful outdoors.
They're very light and comfortable for many people, especially for wearing around the house or during workouts. A downside is that the ear-hook style can become noticeable over long sessions and may need occasional readjusting.
Yes. The open-ear design is specifically useful when you want music or calls without blocking ambient sound, such as while running, biking, or doing chores. That makes them a good fit for people who dislike anything in the ear canal.
Yes. Counterfeits exist, and a real pair should connect to the Bose app; fake units may have different buttons, lights, a weaker hinge magnet, and a much worse microphone. Packaging details can also differ, so app pairing is a useful check.

This is my review on the Shokz.
"Have these and the first gen. Love them. The 2nd Gen has a great upgrade with the touch button. Battery life is great, sound is amazing, mic sounds clear according to the people I talk to. Charge is very fast and gives you hours with a 5 minute charge if you need to extend the conversation. They are light and can barely notice them on. They are open so you are aware of your surroundings. Case is magnetic so they align quick and no guessing. They connect to Bluetooth very fast, almost pair before you take it out of the case and on one ear.
I also have the Bose open ear type that wrap around your ear and the these beat the Bose almost in every category. Same with any airpods, I have 1st, 2nd Gen air pods and the pros and Shokz beat them all.
I have to say these are probably the best wireless bud type on the market by far. Don't know what they will do with a 3rd gen and how they will top it. In the open ear category these are Alpha, no one beats them.
Great price for used, would jump on these without hesitation."
So altho the Bose are great, the Shokz are vast superior. Hope this helps.
I think if I saw these Bose at this price, I would have considered it. But The Shokz were still cheaper, and this is their space along with the bone conduction headphones they offer. I have heard that the sound quality of the Bose is fantastic. I wouldn't expect anything less. It's the software and firmware that have always plagued Bose earbuds. And I still think the price is far too much.
