Slickdeals search function

Is it just me or has Slickdeals search function gotten worse recently? I think the site has been doing some cosmetic changes, but didn't notice a functional change until now.

Searching for deals used to be pretty reliable. Now the search results seem almost randomized, sometimes barely related to what you searched for. And this is with the default sort of "relevance" which should give the most relevant results.

I wonder if y'all changed the underlying search engine or something. Yesterday I gave up and searched on Google instead, adding "Slickdeals" to my query. That gave me the exact results I was looking for. But I'd rather just search here. Please change it back.

It's not just you, the results can be frustrating. The search was entirely replaced due to necessary updates and with the goal of making it better. It's not there yet, but the search team is working on it.

Somewhat related, but when I search on a desktop browser, all results (including expired deals) show up. But when I search via a mobile browser, it appears only deals that are not marked as expired show up. I like to sometimes research past deals when looking at if a price I've found is good, but it's annoying to have to switch to "desktop mode" in order to see all the results.

Filters don't appear to fix it by toggling expired deals, so it must be a programming/coding issue between mobile/desktop browsers.

can you give an example of searches that don't seem to work on mobile web? I tried "Progresso Soup" and saw both kinds by default without needing to check the box so I'm curious if there are specific terms.

This is from mobile Chrome on an Android/Samsung phone. But for example, I search "Calico" on the mobile version of the website, and then again on the "desktop site":

Mobile Site: 9 results
Desktop Site: 212 results

I am having this same exact issue. It used to be you could search the title of the post also, or the deal by number of thumbs up on the app.

Now, this function only works on a desktop browser.

Please bring back the old search function to the app.

I'll add to this - searching for a specific product or keyword used to bring up hundreds of results. Now I frequently get five or ten at most, half of which aren't even relevant.
