I heard the whole gameplay depends on parry timing and its very 1 dimensional. Is that true?

Parry definitely makes things easier and there is a few battles where parry makes a world of difference but dodge has a much larger window and is easier. Even then, I don't think parry is hard. There are cues the game gives you that makes it more instinctual so it shouldn't be a deal breaker either way. For the record, my natural timing is horrible and I usually stink at those timed things and even I can get the hang of it most times.

Honestly I think that depends entirely on how much you like/dislike the battle system. I think it's far from what you'd described, there is synergy between the characters and how you build their talent trees and equip them, but if you can't at least dodge yeah the game is basically not playable. I almost never parry and my dodging skills are very average and I'm most of the way through the game with no major issues.

I'm waiting for the physical version to go on sale. Maybe Black Friday?

Parrying it is a big part of the combat but it's definitely not one-dimensional.

If anything it is something extra that is added to standard turn-based combat systems to make it less tedious.

Each character still has their own unique moves and everything. Each character plays berry differently than the next

Is the deluxe version worth it or should I wait for the regular version to go on sale?

I don't know - but as someone who was so in love with the regular game, I would have bought the deluxe in a heartbeat
I still might. For those who come after.

this and Elden Ring are fighting for game of the decade for me. I don't really like turn based RPGs outside of Pokemon but the story being better than any game I've played and the Dodge mechanic made combat really fun

One of the few games that I would pay full price instead of the discounted, just for the developer to fet more money.

Fantastic game, just outstanding and definitely the game of the year

You absolutely have to check out Expedition 33! Honestly, the soundtrack alone is worth the price of admission. If you're into RPGs, this is a real standout, and I wouldn't be surprised if it snagged a GOTY award.
