There is a trade-off purchasing from Micro Center:

1. If you purchase directly from Ubiquiti you got a two year warranty instead of a one year warranty.

2. If you purchased from them directly, you also pay shipping, so the savings at Micro Center is actually higher.

Either way, the Ubiquiti equipment is great, especially if you use other items in there ecosystem which has been rapidly expanding.

Knowledge and control of your network with very few limitations. It can show you which client and which apps are using bandwidth, note signal strengths on all your access points and note which ones could benefit from repositioning. You can choose channels and channel widths by band (2.4/5/6low/6high), exclude channels (so that any auto selection doesn't get fouled by neighbors, if you have them), keep track of your upstream internet uptime/downtime/interruptions.

If you are lucky enough to plug in your single router and it works, you don't need it. If you have a bigger house with multiple access points or ever need to troubleshoot (IMHO) its a ton easier than trying to figure out what's going wrong using a consumer router or cobbling together freeware network tracing utilities and sifting through MB of text data looking for your issue.

Just from personal experience, I bought the DR7 a few months back and I'll never go back. Prior to this I had experience with Synology, TP Link and Netgear.

This blows them out of the water. Consistency, speeds, UI, everything is incredibly premium and very easy to use.

For those who stream and host their own cloud gaming, you'll never go back from WifiMan. Tailscale is wonderful, but the built in support for Unifi's VPN is next level.

I'm not going to tell you to get this at a great price, but I will recommend it with all of my heart. You'll love it.

Also, unifi devices rarely go on sale so when one does, you can expect that either a new version or they're having issues. I don't think these have issues and I don't think a new version is coming out so this being $30 less than store.ui.com means something else is going on...maybe a pre-black friday type sale or increase foot traffic, not sure.
lol this was literally on sale at $229 for the whole BF week and cyber Monday on the official maker website.

GLiNet's technology arm is out of Hong Kong, which is more about the hardware components and the UI application than anything. Neither of those are inherent threats as there still has to be a phone home concern to which i've yet to see, which kind of mitigates the concern some have. Not to mention, Asus, Netgear, and the like also have technology arms overseas. Also, with proper hardware, you can isolate your network traffic away from certain locales. For instance, I block any/all traffic to/from China and Russia and have seen in my logs where this comes from (mostly threats in, hardly any threats out, but I did have one device that was trying to phone home to Russia and I quickly killed that service).
What hardware are u referring to block calling out to certain countries?

It's built into Unifi's Network application. My travel router VPN's back to my home network and has the local firewall rules applied there.

Meh. I still like my 3 pack Eero Pro that I have had for almost 3 years. Zero issues with it.

Has anyone used a sfp+ to 10G RJ-45 adaptor with it that does not degrade the signal and get hot? Any recommendations or links please?
I got SFP+ adapter on Amazon to use SFP+ port for WAN, connected it to AT&T Fiber router 5Gb port in Passthrough mode and converted port 4 to LAN. SPF+ does get hot. Around 50C under load. Look for SFP+ adapter with newer Broadcom chipset for less power use. The one from Ubiquiti should be a better one.
