Helium Mobile Zero is a free backup or secondary line that can be handy for basic data, verification texts, and occasional calls on T Mobile coverage. eSIM activation is often quick and can work without much friction, and the app can be removed after setup. The main catches are the ID and selfie checks for some activations, physical SIM stock problems, and reports of odd usage tracking or data limits. The plan also appears to be changing, with taxes and fees now applying and the free offer ending for new users.

Location sharing is going away, no longer required on all plans. I believe they're implementing that change this week

Can I use this in a GPS tracker for my car? Or does the SIM has to go into a phone?
I did this to a spare phone for my motorcycle

I don't think you have missed anything.
The deal has just been picked up by SD's and hence all of the current fervor.
what this is , is true affiliate link collections for mass amount of income and/or free perks .
I say this respectfully, of course. I've also had thoughts of creating links for personal gain that would reward the user with $50 and me as well. However, I can't accept being that type of fake or petty for the love and respect I strive to uphold within the community standard of slickdeals.
Call me naive but I still believe in and that the people within here wouldn't trade legit Come-up guides and alerts for another bot-filled sponsored spammed cesspool.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Mind you, ive had helium since July 2023. I have 2 side phones from the legacy plan of 5 bucks a month during the company project inceptions in Miami, florida .. so I can tell you in and out all of of the steps the company has gone. Helium zero came out I believe in Dec 2024 for legacy members and had referral perks .

The ID and picture verification is a bit excessive. Even government site is not that extensive.

THIS IS A DATA-MINING SCAM - Come on, if it quacks like a duck...

Seriously, if that's okay with you, by all means go for it.

Been using their free plan for months now on a spare phone. 3gb is enough for streaming music and google maps for traffic during my commute.

You can also use the 3gb for textnow or something similar to be able to talk and text more.

Some app reviews say the app drains battery fast. Is it like Texnow that has its own app and dialer? I've never used eSIM so i'm not sure how i would use the stock dialer with 2 numbers pSIM and eSIM, if this app is for other purposes.
In the past, their app is required so that it can collect location information. If you don't keep the app, they'll deactivate service. Because the app collects location information all the time, it drains battery. BUT, two month ago, they changed from "share your location" to "just use some data each month". So, now, after you activate service, you can just delete the app and use it just like a regular carrier plan.

For everyone complaining about providing ID, this Is a free service. If you can think of a better method to prevent individuals from exploiting and creating multiple free accounts / numbers. Feel free to share your insight on a different way to validate the service offered.
Google trick to make multiple accounts and they don't care if you make multiple accounts. I ported most of my numbers to helium then posted it out to visible :p

The helium Free plan is good for SMS Verification and other things.

The Helium paid plans though are severely lacking though compared to other T-Mobile MVNO's.

Also if you want to switch device to device, you have to contact Helium support which can take 5-24 hours for a response.

I already have 1 number from them. Can I get 2nd one?
No, 1 per person! They don't take CC but validate with govt. ID.
