Saw this few days back on T-Mobile's website. It's a good deal. Returned m5 13 256gb WiFi at Best Buy and got this one instead.

So T-Mobile no longer unlocks for travel purposes or any other reasons - they have cracked down on that - Apple doesn't have temporary unlock so when you asked for a temporary one for travel you would unlock the phone forever. Android has an app that allows for 30 day unlock - but Apple doesn't and thus the crackdown on unlocking any Apple device. I do not see any monthly credits attached so if you pay the full price, instead of financing your device, the device just needs to be on T-Mobile for 40 days before it automatically unlocks (I have had mine unlock faster). If you're taking the 24 months financing route then it will only unlock once it is fully paid for - but again, if there is no usual "price difference credit such as you pay $45 and get $45 credit each month) then just buy it outright. The only fine print I see is that a data plan must be activated - which again, if you don't get any credits per month, just activate it and cancel in a month. I have a plan with $5 watch and iPad lines so I'm just waiting for a deal on the M5 or the hopefully renewed M6.

So if you add a line, you can cancel the line after receiving the device and still get the $40 promotion credit? Or is better to pay it off and then cancel the line? Already ordered

Edit: never mind post above answered this

Thanks OP! In for a black 2TB with the nano texture. I would have preferred a 13" but couldn't say no to the 11" at that price. My 2TB M1 has served me very well but I've noticed LumaFusion doesn't preview transitions and effects. Hopefully this increase in processing power will help.
I've never paid for a device plan for a tablet, but I can live with $5/month for their intro plan.

So you're waiting for an M5 deal instead of this deal?

You know we need a M5 to properly run ipadOS, which still runs fine on a ipad mini 5th gen launched in 2019. On a A12 chip and 3gb ram

Naw. Going to snag this. Can't beat the price to value. M5 isn't an earth shattering upgrade, hoping that the M6 bring about something really noteworthy. But I currently have the regular screen 256gb m4 - and that screen plus all that storage is worth the upgrade for me than paying $1399 for 512GB of M5.

Looks like no price increase for nano. What tier is this for insurance? Tier 5? So many selections on the list

Oh my gosh. This thing is tier 6 while the m5 is tier 5. $500 replace deductible versus $200.
Also this m4 is either called 5th gen as the 11 inch or model wide is 7th gen.

The insurance site says "sg" and "tg". No idea. Thought it meant space gray but tg I think means nano TexGure?
