What's the skinniest piece of wood i can cut with this? could i rip a half inch off of a 5 inch wide piece of baseboard or am i still gonna need my table saw for that stuff? I do a good amount of trim carpentry currently amd have been eyeing this for a while

Just a note it's the bare tool and track. No battery for those not already in the ecosystem.

As long as you support the track, yeah you can cut off thin pieces. When you're using any sort of dimensional material, it's usually easy enough to find a scrap or two to support the track if the main piece you're cutting is thin.

And now everyone who got in on the last deal of this saw (same price, no track, but with xc 5 battery) debate if the battery or track is more valuable to have… https://slickdeals.net/f/18755215-m18-fuel-18v-brushless-6-1-2-in-plunge-cut-track-saw-w-5-0-ah-battery-369

No battery, but if you're already in the M18 lineup this might still be one of the better (or best) deals with a 55" track for ~48" wide sheet goods.

I keep closing my eyes when this tool comes up on SD because I want it, but I don't need it.

$369 is a lot less than a table saw wound will cost you. The riving knife in these is nice to have.

You can cut as thin as 1/8 1/16 just make sure your material has a catch for your drop off piece. Also add more wood too the base them but up whatever material your gonna cut. Im a finish carpenter thats like a wood surgeon. Trust me its good
