What's the skinniest piece of wood i can cut with this? could i rip a half inch off of a 5 inch wide piece of baseboard or am i still gonna need my table saw for that stuff? I do a good amount of trim carpentry currently amd have been eyeing this for a while

As long as you support the track, yeah you can cut off thin pieces. When you're using any sort of dimensional material, it's usually easy enough to find a scrap or two to support the track if the main piece you're cutting is thin.
