I got that deal last month for one of my college children, really solid machine for the price, no complaints (other than no backlit keyboard) Great battery life, funny fast enough for a typical college student and feels very solid. I would recommend it for that scenario.

100% agree. That should be the mandated standard.

Dang, good catch. I'm gonna pass and hope a similar deal with USB charging comes along.

My guess is that this has one soldered 8gb and one removable 8gb. That would be pretty consistent with how Asus handles their Vivobooks, in my experience.
So is it upgradeable? Yes, but a 16gb stick will likely only upgrade by 8gb (since the existing 8gb stick would need to be removed).

Coming from the owner of an electronics repair business, USB-C ports on laptops tend to be a lot more fragile, and a lot more expensive to replace than barrel ports. A lot of people also don't know what wattage USB-C charger and cable they are supposed to use for laptops and end up having issues. While USB-C charging is great for careful people, and those informed about the charger and cable wattages, there are a lot of good arguments for barrel connector type laptop chargers. I prefer them myself.

Correct. Microcenter has a similar model, and the specs page says 1x8GB is upgradeable while the other is soldered.

Are you talking about the laptop being powered over USB-C instead of a charging barrel?

If the industry had gone to a standard barrel connector and votage a long time ago we wouldn't be having this conversation. The same argument was made about cell phones, but now it's difficult to find a cell phone that uses a proprietary barrel charger and it seems to have overall helped that industry. As a consumer only, I want something more universal. Respect for running a electronics repair business!

He was, one of my very few complaints on this model too. Killer name BTW, one of my favorite songs from surfing with the alien!

Got this laptop from this deal, the wifi is not that fast, got 260 Mbps. My older laptop 640 Mbps via fast.com.
Otherwise pretty solid so far. There is a BIOS update available via ASUS app.
